Just For Fun: Scenes You Would Love to See But Would Never Actually Be in Episode VII

It seems we have rekindled the fire and brought back some blog posters. So I thought it might be fun to pose a little question and get some fun conversation going and this idea popped into my head. What are some scenes, moments, story lines, whatever, that you would love to see in Episode VII but will probably almost definitely not actually see? I'm looking mostly for Han and Leia specific but you can include other characters as well.

For example, I think it would be awesome if they sort of re-created their first kiss, Leia is in there working on the Falcon and Han comes in and of course the memories are sparked and they share a kiss, and then presumably follow it up with other fun things they couldn't last time.  Now, clearly this would never be in the movie, because it is complete fan service and would in no way move the plot forward, but it's fun to think about.

So, what else do you think would be fun to see on screen? You can include things that you actually think could happen, but I thought it could be fun to think up scenarios that they'd never put in the movie.  You know, while we still have hope and aren't entirely sure what they are doing with these guys yet.  Again, no spoilers!

  1. Good topic! I would really like to see Han being overprotective over his daughter (Rey??) when some charming guy with a lopsided grin and a "yo sweetheart" attitude (Poe??) would be flirting with her. And she would be all "I can take care of myself dad" and Han would be "yeh well I know that type" Leia could wisely mentioned that the guy is a lot like he was and Han would deny it… And they would argue about it…. And maybe the same guy would make fun of the Falcon without knowing that Han is behind him and Leia would stop her husband just before he snap at him with a comment like "relax hot shot, that thing was already junk 30 years ago…" and they would argue some more…in a playful way. God, my english is bad but you get the idea! :)

    1. That wasn't bad English! And I've actually discussed similar scenarios before with some people, but you're right, it would be so great to see Han acting as protective dad when some guy is acting like he acted, and Leia stepping in to tell him to ease up a bit :)

  2. Han and underwear. You get the idea. ;) Leia, Han, bed. I'm easy to please. :)

    1. Lol, I'll take it, Amara ;)

Or just Han shirtless would suffice for me...and even better, Leia running her hands over his chest....:)

    2. Mmmm... running her hands over his chest, nice. That is one of the major faults of the OT, Han keeps his shirt on the entire time. There is still a chance to fix this oversight.

And you know Carrie would be pushing for more stuff like that. One of the little things I've always noticed in ROTJ is that if she is within reach of him, she pretty much always at least has a hand on him, or reaches out to squeeze his arm or something.

    3. Bless you, amara z. Your response made me laugh out loud. :-)

  3. Something I don't want: Han and Leia kissing like Indy and Marion in the wedding scene in Indiana Jones 4…. :( I want them to look at each other with complicity, tenderness and still act and kiss with passion (like their old selves).

    1. YES! This. Pretty much throughout the entire rest of the movie I was like, ok, he's not that old. And then that kiss and suddenly I was like, wow, that was such an old people kiss. So disappointing. Although makes me kind of wonder if they did it a few different ways and it doesn't look as good as we think it would when the people are that old. But yeah, if they do kiss, I don't want it to be like that.

Did anyone see Age of Adeline? At one point in that movie Harrison kisses his on-screen wife at a party where they are celebrating their 40th anniversary. It wasn't like, an epic, passionate kiss, but it did look like a loving couple who had been together for 40 years. If it was something like that, I would be happy.

I mean, passionate would be nice, too, but if it's not intense enough for us to be able to speculate whether or not tongues were involved, I'd be totally fine with what I described above.

      Delete
  4. I agree with passionate but not too intense.;) and when I saw Age of Adeline, I thought the same thing about the kiss. I really wish for the chemistry between Harrison and Carrie to be as good as it was back then!

  5. I gotta put some thought into this but I love all of your comments..:)

I know that Hollywood and ageism would be against this, but it would be cool if they at least joked and/or hinted at intimacy...but with a lot of tenderness too...

  6. Scruffy Looking, someone else had brought up the chemistry issue and I hadn't even thought of that. It will be interesting to see if that is still there. I hope so!

Subtle jokes about intimacy would also be funny. Bonus points if any kids they have witness it and get annoyed because they do it all the time and they don't want to hear about it ;)

I have also thought since I first heard of this movie coming out that it'd be fun if in one scene one of Han's kids (and just so we're clear, when I mention kids, I really don't know how many, if any, they have, this is purely speculation and being uninhibited with what I might like to see) is sitting in the pilot's seat on the Falcon and Han kicks them out :)

It would also be fun even if Han and Leia were just shown in bed together at all, even if not at all sexual.

    1. True, I'd squeal like crazy if they were just in bed, ya know SLEEPING :)

  7. It would be fun if they use some of their famous quotes : "no time to discuss this as a committee" "never tell me the odds " ... but not "I have a bad feeling about this", They overkill that one! ;)

    1. I had forgotten to reply to this. I would bet $1000 that someone at some point in this movie says, "I have a bad feeling about this." It is a running joke through all of the movies. Someone, at some point, will say it.

I would love it if Han mentioned the odds, though. That would be a nice little nod.

      Delete
    2. I agree, Zyra. no way is JJ leaving out "I have a bad feeling about this." I can see "never tell me the odds" coming up. or the terms "farmboy", "nerfherder" or "scoundrel".

  8. I'd like to see a big kiss-not one where they're devouring each other, but one that they're passionate about each other. A tasteful, passionate kiss, if there is one. I really just hope that they're together and not separated, although the rumors are indicating that this is not so. I reviewed that Vanity Fair videotape several times, and I could not pause the picture in the right place to see if his left hand had a ring on. It didn't look like it. iluvkoalas

    1. I'd settle for any kiss at this point. His left hand is quite clearly visible on that cover shot and there is definitely no ring. That said, we don't even know if wedding rings are a "thing" in the Star Wars universe. I don't think the characters actually wear them, so that probably means nothing.

      Delete
    2. THIS. I have never seen anybody wear a wedding band in the GFFA. Not Jimmy Smits, not Owen or Beru or Clegg or Padme or any married characters. It's a non-issue, IMO.

      Delete
  9. Remember, there is not even underwear in space (according to Carrie) so wedding rings. ... ;)

    1. technically it was George who said there is no underwear in space. And yet there are bikinis in space?

on the other hand, Han can run around without underwear ALL HE FREAKING WANTS TO.

  10. Its virtually impossible, but I still wish there could be some kind of flashback showing their wedding (its the romantic in me)...but actors 'doubling' for them just wouldn't work...

I still wonder what Carrie's daughter's cameo role is going to me...(maybe Jaina?)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Flashback would be amazing. They could easily just throw in a photo from their wedding in the background or something. That'd be a snap to take care of, too, with some simple photoshop. There are some old publicity photos of them that practically look like wedding photos, just with the wrong clothes.

No idea on her daughter's role but I suspect it won't be a big deal. I'll be surprised if her character even gets an actual name. I am under the impression that putting her in the movie at all is more of a favor than casting her to do anything substantial. Would her mom even want her in a substantial role in Star Wars considering what it has turned into for her?

      Delete
    2. You are totally right - I've seen some of those old photos and yes, they looked like a couple back then (even if they deny it...;) OK so I can maintain a little hope that a photo of their wedding day could materialize...lol

I agree, I don't think Carrie's daughter will have a major role in the next installment....but maybe some of those kids from the EU/AU will be cameo'd or something, but not playing a big part in these movies (or maybe they won't exist at all; though I think that would be kinda weird...JMO)

and yes, I'm praying they do a "I love you/I know" somewhere in the film as well...

  11. based on the Star Trek reboot movies I would say that a repeat of familiar scenes or quotes, just tossed in there, is highly likely. Did JJ really NEED tribbles for his movie's plot? of course not. but could he resist? nope. somebody's going to say they have a bad feeling about something. and someone is going to tell someone it's their destiny. and one of Han and Leia's iconic quotes is going to get repeated. so I guess this isn't my scene we won't see, huh?

I would still love to see Benedict Cumberbatch with blue skin as Admiral Thrawn but it's not looking likely. then again, it's also fairly unlikely we're going to see a moon fall on Chewie, so there's that.

    1. Hey, JZ! I would enjoy some nods back to the OT. The article in Vanity Fair though sort of indicates they took some of that out that they had originally put in, which almost makes me kind of sad. But I guess it depends on how much and what they took out. I really, really hope to see an "I love you" "I know" exchange between Han and Leia. I don't care which one says which line. I want that, and I want it to be obvious that it has been a running thing between them for 30 years.

I'll be really interested when it comes out to see if they slip anything past us, have any genuine surprises during it, or have us completely believing something is going to happen and then it doesn't. Like, say if they have us totally convinced of a major character death, but it was all just a ruse. This is why it is so crucial for me to see this movie at the first available moment.

Er, well, maybe not THE first available moment. I don't think I can do midnight shows, I'm too old! Although I honestly sort of wonder if I will even be able to sleep at all the night before I will be going to see it. I saw Avengers this weekend and finally saw the trailer on the big screen, and it made me think about seeing this when it finally comes out (7 months from today!) and seriously, I don't even know what I'm going to be like, but it will be embarrassing.

      Delete
    2. You saw the trailer before "Avengers"?? Damn! I went to see "Avengers" and they didn't show the trailer at my theater. I was so disappointed (actually, the movie was kinda disappointing, too). Huh.

Eh, might as well chime in at this point…I'd honestly just be happy if they were still together at this point. And maybe a big fat cute reunion hug or something. See that? I'm *very* easy to please.

      Delete
    3. Yep, saw it before Avengers. I thought that was the big thing? That it was going to premiere before that movie? This was before of course the surprise reveal at Celebration, and inevitable online availability. Sorry you didn't get to see it, it was definitely better than the movie. But then I'm also fairly easy to please, so while I didn't love the movie, I enjoyed it at least somewhat for what it was. So many damn people to keep track of, though. And the actual character things that they put in there all seemed forced.

It's sad, isn't it, when we only expect tiny things? Maybe because we're afraid that we'll get none of it. Or not even any scenes together at all (although one thing you actually CAN tell from call sheets, is if people share screen time, and I believe they do).

Is anyone else though still really concerned that Harrison has STILL not been seen anywhere since the accident? I don't want this to turn him into a feeble old man. We still want to see him in some cool stuff!

      Delete
    4. Hi. This is a reply to several things I've read on this site. Thank you for clarifying what call sheets mean. I didn't even understand the concept. And thank you for "centering me" about these rumors. So, even if any of these call sheets are correct, the interpretation of them is what is being posted, and scenes, dialogue, and even the plot are missing. Gotcha...As far as the "a" word is concerned, it could mean anything. It doesn't mean that Han and Leia are apart romantically. I am concerned about Harrison. We all saw the pics where he had a serious head injury. Supposedly, he broke his pelvis. That is very serious at anyone's age, especially his. I know someone who had that injury in her 20's. She recovered, but she was told that she would need a double hip replacement later on (She hasn't had it yet as far as I know). iluvkoalas

    5. Yeah, call sheets are logistical things. Locations, props needed, which actors are in the scene, who they need where and at what time. I don't recall ever seeing dialog and certainly not mentions of the tone of a scene or character interaction specifics. If you gave me a stack of call sheets and told me to piece together the movie, I don't even know where I'd begin. We'd know who was in what scenes with who and how many scenes they shared together, and we might be able to tell something about the scenes from locations (for instance, if they set a scene in a bedroom with Han and Leia, that we would know from a call sheet, and we might have fun trying to figure out what took place!) or we might be able to figure out that two characters were in a lightsaber fight, if the scene contained two characters, and two lightsaber props were needed. But to try and figure out what is happening in a scene? I mean, just look at ESB. We could have scenes that take place in the cockpit of the Falcon with just Han and Leia where they share an intimate conversation, or we might have a scene where they are yelling at each other while trying to flee from a bunch of TIE fighters. The call sheet for either of those would look exactly the same.

Yeah, I'm really worried about Harrison, too. The broken pelvis was never "officially" confirmed, and I'm trying to hang onto that only official statement that said "full recovery" but then that was given like hours after the accident, and man, if you're in your 70s and have an accident that keeps you housebound for over 2 months? That can't be good news. Damn it, Harrison, why couldn't you have flown one of your other planes that day?

  13. Back to the topic at hand, I would love to see even if it was just in the background, some pictures from Han and Leia's wedding, or from their earlier days together, maybe even some happy pictures with babies or something. Regardless of what is going on in their lives during the movie itself, it'd be nice to see some tangible evidence of happier times.

  14. This post isn't getting a lot of interest, I'll keep talking to myself anyway.

I'd love to see Leia do something really kick-ass, maybe with a lightsaber or maybe something similar to ROTJ when she showed Han that she was hiding the blaster and would shoot the stormtroopers, and Han witnesses it and is just once again so awed and happy that she's his. Or maybe even the other way around, and one of them saves the other one's life again. There are a lot of fun scenarios they could do there.

    1. lol you aren't talking to yourself :) I love all your ideas; I wish they would have consulted you before filming. They couldn't use too many inferences to their 30 years together, IMO....my fav movie couple ever...

  15. they didn't play TFA trailer when we saw Avengers either. but they did play it when we saw Tomorrowland last night and seeing it on the big screen that was definitely the high point of my evening.

  16. Oh, and I also just thought of this one today: I think it would be absolutely hilarious if they through in some relatively subtle line that answered our question once and for all: when did they first do it? Like if Han alludes to the trip to Bespin or something, or after the Ewok ceremony, or if we have to play it all very PG and conservative, their wedding night (in this case only plausible if their wedding takes place within 24 hours of blowing up the second death star) I just think that'd be really funny. It won't happen, but it'd be funny.

    1. Oh man is that good....I really wish they would hint an answer to that question...it's a great one - there certainly is a lot of wiggle room for the answer....what do you think? Somebody on FYHAL side posted something about how Leia was always wearing white in the films, until Bespin; then after Han was lost in carbonite she was back in white, until his rescue...hmmmmm

Mostly I think that Leia would have probably wanted to wait until their wedding night; but at the same time, with death at your heels constantly, I could see them consummating their love before the opportunity for an official ceremony...and it would be pretty damn hard to resist Han Solo...lol

    2. We actually had a post on this 3 years ago where we debated exactly that: http://hanleiafanficwriters.blogspot.com/2012/05/more-fun-topics-when-did-they-do-it.html

I've never really been on the "on the way to Bespin" bandwagon in spite of the dress theory. Or anyone who says that they are acting different toward one another. They act different toward one another from the time they kiss, just look at the scene where they decide to go to Bespin, all of the anger and tension is basically already gone. I just don't think that trip took that long.

I don't think she'd wait for the wedding, either. But I probably said all of these exact same things in the comments of the post I just linked, I haven't looked at it yet :)

    4. Zyra,

Hi again. I'm not on that "On the way to Bespin" bandwagon either. I don't think that they had enough time, believe it or not. Maybe on Bespin, on Endor after the celebration, and definitely after they got married.

  17. Hi,

It's interesting. I was listening to a podcast today, and the person who does the podcast, who gets his info from the call sheets ADMITTED on the podcast that Han and Leia might still be together. So, you were right about those sheets. He didn't really know. He's just making a guess or assumption.

    1. Good to know, thanks for that. I had always suspected that this particular tidbit was being somewhat pulled out of thin air. That said, we still don't know for sure and I'm trying not to get too worked up over either possibility. I kind of feel as though if they ARE together, we will have some sort of concrete proof before the movie comes out, like some still photos of them looking like married people, or perhaps even a little scene of them together in another one of the trailers. Although I don't even know if I could handle seeing them together in a trailer and then having to wait to see the movie. My head might explode!

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I do too. That's important for many original fans, and that's definitely a way of pulling fans, and non-diehards who still liked Star Wars and Han/Leia, into seeing the movie.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, a lot of fans' heads would explode if they were in a scene together in a trailer or on a talk show. Just imagine if Harrison Ford were on Jimmy Fallon (He likes him. He pierced his ears on television. That was just verrrry strange), and they showed a clip of Han and Leia together. The audience would go nuts.
