Happy Birthday, Carrie!

Oh, wait, to get readers for a blog you have to blog more than 4 times a year?  Now you tell me.  Sorry, things have just gotten slower around here, I'm kind of on my own and there hasn't been much to talk about unless we wanted to delve into Episode 7 rumors, but I'd rather wait until we just know stuff for sure rather than running around in circles speculating, so, yeah.

Anyway, today is Carrie's 58th birthday.  Wow.  And she finally gets to be Leia again.  Or at least we think she is.  It's weird, if you've been following any rumors or things floating around, you'd think Carrie wasn't even in this movie.  We haven't heard a word about her.  Hopefully that means absolutely nothing.  The good news though is that Harrison healed quickly and apparently is all done shooting his scenes and we are just a little bit closer to the day when we finally get to see it.

Also cute about her birthday is that apparently last night the whole cast went out to dinner to celebrate with her, including Harrison.  There are some pictures floating around the internet of them all going into the restaurant.  Sadly, all separately, but still, everyone looks pretty good.  I really just can't wait to see this movie.

Anyway, happy birthday, Carrie!  I can't wait to see you as Leia again, and hopefully getting some kisses from your long-time on-screen husband Han Solo.

  1. It's so good to be back! Sounds like we're going to get a hell of a movie. :)

  3. P.S.--I don't think Harrison is done filming yet. I think he's *close*, but the fact that they were all still in London for her birthday, and the fact that he hasn't cut his hair yet, makes me believe he's still at work.

    1. Stoned Rose, I'm losing my patience with you and your not updating While You Were Gone! Seriously, anyone on this blog, myself included as you know, will do whatever we can to get that story finished and get some closure after all this time!

Also I agree it seems odd he is still there when supposedly he was done shooting several days ago. I would've expected him to hit the road and head home immediately.

    2. D'oh! My first response got deleted again! To paraphrase: "winter is coming" and I tend to have better writing habits when I'm hiding away from the elements, so don't lose hope in me yet!

  4. Glad you're still trying to keep things ticking over on here, Zyra. I need some sanity after driving myself crazy with episode 7 rumours at the jedi council forums, which I don't look at anymore, because it was just too much.

Oh how I wish someone could have snapped a pic of Carrie and Harrison together, wouldn't that have been sweet? I bet that was one fun party :)

I agree, the lack of info on Leia in episode 7 is very strange. We've had a barrage of awful rumours about Luke, and tidbits about Han, but absolutely zero on Leia. Very strange. Are we sure she's even in the movie? Lol.

    2. I'm avoiding the VII rumors. No one really knows what's going on, and those that do aren't talking. Besides, with my current work schedule, I can't schedule a nervous breakdown for at least 2 more months.

  5. Hi!! So glad to see activity :-). Now I just need to get off my own ass and write something postable on ff...

I'm reading every epVII rumor I can get my hands on, 'cause that's just my way. Don't even get me started on Leia underrepresentation--it burns me. DH told me he read an article recently that mentioned her work on the film, though, I must get him to find it for me.

Meanwhile, is anyone else watching Rebels? It's so good!

    1. I've only watched the first few episodes (I'm still a couple behind), but I really like it so far! It reminds me of "Firefly". Which, yes, I know was influenced by the OT, but still. But yeah, good stuff.

    2. I've thought the same thing! It's such an amazing synthesis when different imaginary worlds beign to feed off one another... Makes me feel a pang again that Joss isn't directing VII. Then again, he did just say (of Avengers), "we go to the movies to see our favorite characters suffer" or similar. I'm not sure I could deal with his version of the GFFA!

But guys, Rebels is such fun, and definitely worth a try. If you're on the fence, I'd start with the first 30 minute episode instead of the hour-long pilot.

  6. You too, Stats! I've really been needing to reach out to other fic writers, so I'm really grateful to Zyra for giving us a platform.

Have we talked yet about writing fic in the Ep VII era? I'm beginning to think that all the changes to the universe and the fandom are affecting the way I'm approaching writing new material. Does anyone else feel this way?

  7. I've been hoping Ep. 7 would bring out the old-time fans again (hey like me lol) & spur some new writing. I've been searching daily for SW news scraps too & noticed a definite lack of Carrie. The last big thing seems to be her daughter possibly...definitely?...being in it.

As for Rebels, only caught one episode so far, but thought it was good. I'm still trying to catch up on the Clone Wars episodes I missed.

I just hope this movie has good storytelling. That's 90% of the battle IMO. I don't care much what the sets look like or how creative the aliens are, just give me characters I care about saying intelligent dialogue & doing something meaningful.
