Cover of the June Issue of Vanity Fair!

Check it out!  This was completely unexpected, and for some reason to me is almost more exciting than the trailer was. Does anyone else feel like with every little thing like this that shows up, it seems just a little more real? I don't know if my mind has fully absorbed yet that this is actually happening. Someone else brought up to me the other day sitting in a movie theater waiting for the new Avengers movie to start, and suddenly thinking about the anticipation of just sitting in the theater at Episode VII, finally waiting for the movie to start. I got goosebumps just thinking about it.

So this was a fun surprise, most likely for May the 4th. I don't know that there were any announcements about this, and I think it has been sort of fun to have some of this stuff revealed as a complete surprise. Clearly this cover at least doesn't show us anything new we hadn't seen in the trailers, but it is still amazing to see, nonetheless.

I do wonder if there will be any more clues inside about what it will be about, although I admit that I almost don't even want to know. The Empire Reboots? What does that mean?

Anyway, just wanted to share this awesome cover, Han Solo back to his old self, just hanging out on his ship with his Wookiee.... and his daughter? Who knows? 7 and a half more months...

    1. OMGosh this is totally awesome!! I'm feeling less paranoid about them ruining the movie by having them separated. Nope, that would be such a huge downer...too big of a risk. You can make a lot of excitement and plot twists without pissing off fans....
I'm betting she's gotta be one of their children; there's gotta be at least one more ...they will drag this out until the release date ..:( when is this magazine going to be available?

    2. I agree that it would be a huge, huge downer for fans. It would kind of ruin the OT love story for me. Plus, again, it seems like life in that galaxy is pretty darn horrible since the Empire and Sith are constantly causing so many problems. It would be nice to have just ONE bright spot, one nice couple with unbreakable love, among all of the other horrible stuff.

As for when it would be revealed whether or not she's their daughter, I think it depends on how it comes out in the movie itself. If it's not some sort of "reveal" in the movie then they'll tell us before, I'm sure. But if it's like Mutt was in Indy 4, then they won't say anything until after we see the movie. That said, we don't even know who, if anyone, she is related to.

  2. Hi Zyra - I'm having trouble commenting!

  3. Aw, frick--I lost a really long comment. Don't you HATE when that happens? Anyways, yes, this is awesome and I love it. I also have a theory/hope that Carrie Fisher is just part the fold at Ford's left elbow...

Anyway, my looong comment was all about asking people how the prospect of a new canon is affecting their writing. Are you still treating the EU as your canon, or waiting to see that the new canon is, or are you (like me) feeling kind of freed by this sense that we're in a multiverse now with endless room to play?

    1. Ah, there you are. Sorry your comment got lost. Remember people, if you write a long comment, "copy" it to your computer's clipboard before you hit submit in case it gets lost, then you can just paste it! I do enjoy your theory but there is a little video online today that shows a brief clip from that photo shoot, basically just a picture of that picture being taken, and nobody else is in it :( Although I did read today that there is one more character to be revealed when the magazine actually comes out, so maybe we will be seeing her, or maybe we'll finally find out who some of those other actors are playing. It does make me wonder what they are saving Mark and Carrie for. You'd almost think they'd save Han for last since he would be the most anticipated, but maybe it's because he is also everyone's favorite and also, aside from Chewie, the one who probably looks the most like himself from the OT. I don't know.

As for new canon and writing, good question. If it wasn't obvious, I haven't been writing, but I've definitely thought about this anyway. The EU is still so ingrained as my "head canon" in a way. At least the kids that they had, anyway. It is somewhat disappointing to know that in the future any stories I've written that include Jacen, Jaina and Anakin will pretty much be irrelevant. (I suppose, being fanfic, they are already "irrelevant" but you probably understand what I mean.) And I think it will make it even more difficult for me to potentially write this one story I've had in mind for a while, that very heavily involves those particular kids and knowing what I know about where things are headed with Episode VII (I'm avoiding rumors, but I've still heard some things) it makes it really impossible and possibly even jarring to read about it compared to what may happen in the movies and become canon. So, maybe I need to try and sit down and write it all before the new movie ruins it!

I do hope that someday I can sort of morph more into the "endless room to play" frame of mind, but that has always been difficult for me. I enjoy the framework already being there, and for certain stories it also makes it easier in that it allows you to skip some exposition. I'm sure we've talked about this before, and I've said that if you want to just write some story when Han and Leia are older and married and have kids, and the point of the story isn't so much how they have the kids or got to where they got to but that just happens to be when the story is set, it's just way easier and less confusing for your readers to have Jacen, Jaina and Anakin rather than deciding you don't like those kids, so instead they had their sons Bill and Gary and identical twin daughters Susie and Betty.

I also think it will depend a lot on just what they really do with this movie. Has everything been horrible the entire time? Was there ever any chance at some quiet, happy times? Did they raise a family? If everything is completely crazy the entire 30 years (and again, what kind of pre-movie crawl is that going to be if they need to fill it with so much horrible stuff?) I think it will make it tougher for me to get back to enjoying the types of stories I tend to enjoy the most. And it would certainly make it tougher for me to try and write it the other way that I've tended to write it.

Lots of interesting things to think about.

      Delete
    2. At first it kind of freaked me out, even though I must confess I haven't read a lot of the EU, but the general idea of Han and Leia married with three kids, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin just seem too 'canon' to me to throw away....I'm hoping they will keep them in existence, but perhaps those children won't even be in Episode VII, or maybe will be worked into the plot in the next installment...

I'm just going to keep feeding the crazy ideas in my head (which aren't very canon anyway..) if episode seven's plot is too depressing, meaning never married or married/separated, no kids, etc. (which I now doubt they would chance doing) I'll do my best to ignore it and create my own little 'happy ever after' for them...lol

  4. I love this cover! I'm curious - do people in their heart of hearts believe that Han and Leia are married and/or together as a couple in the new movie? I'm not asking for rumors since everything is so unconfirmed, just what everyone's GUT feelings are saying.

Me? No way could they not be together. Of course things aren't perfect since the movie needs a dramatic plot, but I think they might be separated through missions and whatnot, but that they are still married

    1. When it was announced I didn't even consider the possibility that they wouldn't be together. It just seemed so blatantly obvious and inevitable. But then the more time that passed the more worried I got about all of the horrible things they might do to make me have to hate the fact that they are doing this at all, so I started to worry that maybe they wouldn't be together. As far as GUT feelings, I honestly I don't have one either way. I'd really like to think that there is no way they would split them up, but I don't know.

There are just so, so, SO many other ways to create drama in these movies without adding a strained marriage into the mix. With all of the craziness and insanity they've all suffered through, can we not just have ONE relationship that works out? Plus it feels too Indy/Marion we just went through if they aren't together. I don't care if they are separated simply by virtue of being on their on separate missions, but I do not want them to be, like, SEPARATED.

      Delete
    2. Hey that's a great point about Indy/Marion...I would hope one of Harrison's characters would be able to have a successful marriage..LOL

And Raiders, etc. was more aimed at the 'older' crowd, less all-encompassing like SW, which was marketed heavily to kids as well...

I think it would be too 'soap-opera-y' also for them to have marital drama in episode 7...there's so many other things to focus on...

      Delete
    3. The rumors aren't indicating such, but I'm still hopeful. It just doesn't make sense to me to separate them because this new trilogy is supposed to be about the new characters, some of whom are most likely their kids. iluvkoalas

  5. I love this cover. I'm dying to get my hands on this when it comes out. Been loving the rest of the portraits as well. The video made me squeal. I can't believe this is all real, aaagh!

And about if they're together or not...I don't know why I keep having this weird feeling that they won't be. I hope that isn't the case, but at the same time, I don't know if I'll be totally crushed. I honestly think it could be interesting...or it could be SO HORRIBLE I WANNA DIE. But hey, we'll see.

Anyway, I'm a little late for May 4th, but I hope you all had a good one! Had a busy day, but I squeezed in some Return of the Jedi.

  6. This is what I kind of *want* to happen, but I also think it makes sense based on some drips and drabs I've heard: I'm imagining that H/L had maybe 10 good years together, during which (I hope) they had a kid/s (who I also hope will turn up in the film as major character/s). Then things went south, and at the opening of the movie they've been separated for like an additional 10 or 15 years. Over the course of the movie they'll find their way back to each other. To me, that sounds really romantic and also believable and appropriate.

What I'm really worried about is...you know...other things.

    1. Lady Peter, you know where I stand...i'm going to die (not literally, :) )if they aren't together, together since ROTJ to current. Please, Please, Abrams, let them have at least a happy marriage, what with all the other garbage they've had to deal with over the course of decades...but they are soooo tight-lipped about this...and there's so many spoilers that I don't think there is much that is reliable out there...we're stuck waiting until the movie opens, or if someone can get Carrie Fisher cornered and force her to spill the beans...LOL

    2. I forgot Lady Peter, to ask, I was so busy rattling on...what other things are you worried about?

      Delete
    3. I'm sure we can have a friendly discussion on this, so you can continue to disagree and try to convince me, but I definitely don't want to see them separated. You say that it can be like Empire and they can fall in love again... well, right there you're reminding us that that story has already been told. We already watched them fall in love. I suppose it could be fun to watch a sub plot that has to do with their relationship that way, but is there really even room for something like that in a movie like this? Do audiences care to watch a love story between two old people with so much else going on? And I forget if I mentioned it somewhere in these comments here, I'm sure I've said it before, if they do split up for a long time and come together again, we're just watching Indy and Marion in Crystal Skull again.

I don't know, I personally don't find it all that romantic to think that they've been apart for a bunch of years only to come back together now. It also seems sort of unrealistic, if things came apart years ago for some reason, it doesn't seem likely that they can patch things up and be happy again at this point. It just really tarnishes the romance for me.

    4. I soooo agree with you, Zyra. I highly doubt the movie will be devoting alot of time to them anyway (since I think the main focus will be on the younger set).

I don't mind some conflict, but I want them still to be together - bickering like an old married couple works for me. Again, not expecting everything to be roses, but if they aren't together after 30 years - it will be a huge disappointment.

      Delete
    5. I gotta throw in my two cents worth...besides Abrams stating he wants to keep the original fans 'happy', as Zyra mentioned the focus is supposed to be on the new characters. Soooo, I don't think a separated - then-get back--together storyline would be feasible, even from a time standpoint..it would take A LOT of episode 7's time to cover that one... I think the biggest surprises will be how many/who their children are and what those kids are doing...no matter how many red herrings are thrown out, they will be married and together...makes it more emotional to see they've lived the last 30 years married, with kids, still bickering i'm sure but still in love...because somebody is going to die, and I think it will be Han going after/trying to save a wayward kid...just a guess...

  8. I've actually thought the same thing... that there might be some kind of reconciliation or coming back together, hopefully after some kind of mature and amicable split may have taken place (growing apart, duty, separation, etc.), and then we get to see the fireworks of ESB all over again. That would be just as satisfying - of course if its done right! - as them being together the entire movie.

  9. I have to admit that I too, when I saw that picture of Han and Chewie, felt like Star Wars 7 became a little more real. I can't wait to get my hands on that Vanity Fair copy! As for the speculations regarding Han and Leia's relationship status in the upcoming film, I have to admit that I will be SOOO disturbed if they are not a happily married couple with kids. I what that new franchise to be about their kids and our beloved couple legacy! It's getting more and more difficult for me to control myself and search for any spoilers at least confirming that they will be together. I don't want to know the whole story but just that little piece of information so I can relax and continue waiting with enthusiasm for December 18th to arrived!

    1. hey Scruffy Looking...you gotta know how I feel based on my previous rantings...lol...To say that I would be bummed out if their marriage failed would be a huge understatement. If they were separated at the beginning of seven, then reconciled before Han dies (I bet he gets killed off in seven) it still wouldn't be much of a consolation to me...I can't believe Abrams would have them in a failed marriage; to me, it would tarnish the original trilogy's love story and ... it would be difficult to stomach those famous love scenes from ESB AND ROTJ only to have them self-destruct after a few years of marriage...again, I was originally panicked but I'm thinking ...no way they'll turn this into General Hospital, etc(God I hope not!)

  10. I agree with you JeanMarie. I've been waiting for that sequel since 1983 (pretty much after I left the movie theater after seeing ROTJ for the first (of several) times! For the last 10 years, I've been reading fanfiction stories mainly those about Han and Leia's missing moments from the films and of their happy life together. I admit that I have (like a lot of us I presume) very high expectations for this film and how it will portray our favorite couple. Like you, I can't imagine them being separated in the film just to add a twist to the story (It would be too much like a soap opera plot indeed)…. Think about all of those couples who had "I love you" "I know" inscriptions on their wedding rings… what a bummer for them if Han and Leia are divorced or worse never married or in love anymore… But I do think that since Abrams is a fan of the original trilogy, he will not do such a thing and, admit it, he cannot afford to have millions of fans turning their back on him for jeopardizing such a important part of why people love Star Wars so much!

  11. Awesome pictures from Vanity Fair :) Doesn't Harrison just look so Han like, I mean, it looks like he's eased back into the role with no effort whatsoever. That pic just screams Han Solo is back to me.

Are Han and Leia still together? That is THE question isn't it? For what it's worth, and it may mean absolutely nothing whatsoever, at Celebration me and Amara saw a guy who had just had a stormtrooper helmet signed by Carrie. As he walked away from her table you could clearly see she had signed "Carrie Fisher - Mrs. Solo" Could be Carrie just messing around, or maybe she's dropping hints ;) I'd really like to think so.

  12. There are certainly any number of scenarios that are plausible for H/L in ep VII. I do hope that there isn't a dynamic like ESB, though: I imagine their relationship as quite different after so much time (and actually it wasn't I who brought up ESB as a comparison/contrast). Another possibility in my mind is that they are together, but not in a traditional sense. Maybe they have relatively separate lives but maintain a loving relationship (in fact, I can even see a sort of tease at first where they seem acrimonious but then are actually proven to be going strong).

It does seem less likely to me that they will be in a marriage as we'd imagine one: a shared permanent household, raising kids together in that household, etc. It's seeming like things have been much less stable than that in this new canon GFFA.

Now, I've been proven wrong before, and this is just my feeling. It's true that Lucasfilm doesn't want to alienate fans. But-- we hardcore Han/Leia shippers are hardly the largest contingent of fans, and we don't generally receive much respect or recognition in the wider fandom. For instance, I'm sure that fans who are adamant that Chewie not be dead have been given more of an ear than those of us who care a lot about Leia. That said, I'm very hopeful about ep VII. And if there are ever figures of Leia for sale in stores that aren't her in the metal bikini, I'll be very happy indeed.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry if I equated the "like ESB" comment to you if it wasn't.

I could get behind the "not in the traditional sense" scenario. I mean, if things have been crazy of course they aren't just going to be hanging out in a beach house on some planet. And I had actually thought myself it would be great if the first time we see them on screen they are acting sort of nasty to one another (not REALLY nasty, but like they used to when we saw them in ESB) but then we find out pretty quickly that they are just playing around and really are happy to see one another.

But, I'd also not like to learn that there was absolutely no chance for them to be "normal" in between the chaos. And that goes beyond my feelings as a strictly Han and Leia fan and into the realm of just Star Wars fan in general. If they are telling me that the Rebels have still been running/fighting for 30 years then the ending of ROTJ is basically an outright lie. I think there has to be some relative peace enjoyed in there for a fairly significant amount of time or else the movie might as well open with them all smiling at the end of ROTJ, and then the first words on screen are, "Just kidding! Everything was still awful after that!"

As for alienating fans and us not being a very prominent group, I do agree that strictly Han and Leia fans might be a minority among Star Wars fans. But that said, even those fans who don't think much about their relationship I think would be disappointed and saddened if they weren't together. I mean, I'm really not much of a Luke fan myself, but I'd be sad if they did some really unfavorable things with his character. Or heck, even Lando. I don't think much at all about Lando but I think I'd be sad if they tell us in the movie he died in battle or something. I don't know that they are doing ANY of their fans a favor by messing with the relationship, even if they hadn't given it a lot of thought before.

I go back and forth with how hopeful I am. When I saw the trailer and then these pictures I was all excited again. But it just worries me what they might do with it.

      Delete
    2. I think that actually some 'normalcy' is quite realistic no matter what galaxy you live in LOL...most people's lives aren't a continual series of conflict and misery. And while we shippers may not the majority of fans, I agree with Zyra that most people who grew up with the OT (and hence their love story, even if it wasn't their main focus of enjoyment) and the newbies would be disappointed as well, at a minimum b/c it would be really inconsistent with the ending of ROTJ and the whole idealistic theme in general of Star Wars... I think Abrams must recognize that as well.

And the Han Leia factor contingent must be pretty important to Abrams, b/c they are keeping that portion of the movie under such tight wraps...if they thought it didn't matter to many people, I think it would have already be mentioned as an unimportant background for the rest of the movie...

      Delete
    3. I've been thinking the same thing actually. Well, at least that maybe they aren't revealing what happened to Han and Leia, are they still together, to get butts in the seats. Cause you know people are going to want to know what happened the last 30 years. And us shippers will show up to make sure they are still together.

      Delete
  13. Hey I forgot to mention (not that it may matter anymore) but Lucas said once in response to a question if Han and Leia got married, something to the effect, " Absolutely, they got married, had a family and probably barbequed on the weekends..."

He wouldn't allow Han to be killed off in ROTH because it was "a love story"...also....I don't know how much influence he had over the direction of episode 7, but if you're going to be faithful to the creator....

    1. I remember that quote. Unfortunately, George has absolutely no say whatsoever in what happens in these movies. I suppose he potentially could've had a few ground rules when he was selling, but as far as I know, his opinions have zero influence on what we will see in Episode VII.

But then that could potentially be our BEST bit of news, in spite of how he feels about Han and Leia. He had complete creative control over the prequels and look what happened there. It's astonishing that someone who crafted one of the best screenplays in the history of movies (there are so many things he got "right" way beyond just making a cool movie, for any of you writing nerds) could then somehow have completely forgotten everything he ever knew about storytelling for three movies.

it's funny you say that lady peter about feeling free. I'm slowly embracing the idea that I basically have George's blessing to believe or disbelieve anything in the EU as I see fit. the result is reexamination of all my in progress work with the realization that I can go anywhere I want with it and not feel like I am going rouge by going AU.

  15. Oh, one thing I just thought of that I think we can all completely agree on: regardless of the status of their relationship, whether they have been together for 30 years, separated for some period of time or never got married in the first place, it is going to be extremely disappointing if they don't kiss at least once in this movie. It doesn't even have to be anything special or incredibly passionate, just a kiss. I'm going to be really sad if we don't get that.

I will say this: I do believe we will at least get a kiss between Han and Leia in this film. And if the latest spoilers are true, we might even get implied sex (e.g. they spend the night together).

I'd like to go into the movie without knowing the whole thing before. I have said before though that I don't mind if you post links to spoilers, provided you warn us so we can decide if we want to read it or not.

All that said, as spoiler-free as I wish to remain, I do not mind in the slightest hearing a rumor that there is implied sex and a night together. Nope, I don't mind knowing that in advance at all :)

    6. Hi JeanMarie...

Before I tell you, I just want to say that it's possible I made the spoilers sound a lot more warm-and-fuzzy than they actually are. The spoilers/rumors are very much a mixed bag.

Moreover, on the websites where I got these supposed spoilers, many fans who are not particularly fans of H/L are jumping to conclusions (and stating those conclusions as fact) that make it sound like things won't be good for H/L. One forum in particular is dominated by Luke fans, and a vocal minority of those fans are always trying to spin the rumors in favor of Luke, and not so much in favor of H/L. So beware of cranky fan wars and speculation masquerading as fact.

There is one website (the guy who runs it is a regular poster on that forum) that claims to have all the call sheets for the film and basically know the plot. In my opinion, the broad strokes of his spoilers are correct. But I also think he is missing at least a few scenes and of course he is missing a huge amount of context, namely the dialogue. Basically he claims to have figured out almost the entire movie from the partial information (call sheets) he has, and I think some of his speculations and conclusions are wrong. So just take everything you read with a grain of salt and use your own judgement.

Having said all that, the two sites where I get my info are the force.net forums and superherohype forums. The TFN forums are extremely Luke-centric, full of opinions masquerading as fact, and that's where the call sheet guy posts. IMO, the SHH forums are better (I especially like a poster named MagnarTheGreat) but there is a lot less traffic. So with all those caveats, if you're still curious about the spoilers, there you go.

      Delete
    7. Ah, yes, I've been hearing how someone has apparently pieced together the entire movie based on call sheets. I'll be incredibly curious to find out later how close to correct they were (I have only heard a few bits and pieces of the rumors from this, trying not to hear any more) because I've worked on films, I know what information tends to be on call sheets, and I can't imagine really how you could derive the entire plot based on them. Number of scenes people had together, scene locations, those things sure. But plot I would think would be a lot trickier. It also makes me wonder if certain things were put on them specifically to throw people off. With all of the care they put into trying to keep things secret I'm not sure I buy them printing out these important plot details and just handing them out to everyone in the crew.

And one minor plot point in particular I had been concerned about, recently I discovered what that rumor was based on from the call sheet and I was like, wait, that's it? That's why people are saying this is true? That could mean almost anything! It was just one adjective vaguely describing something in a scene. Just like you say up there, it really depends on who is doing the interpreting of these things and who they tend to gravitate toward as far as the characters.

This is why these rumors are such a tricky business. And why part of my reasoning for not wanting to hear too much is wanting to be surprised when I actually see the movie unfold for the first time in front of me, rather than sitting there thinking, oh yeah, this is that part I read about, and then next will come this other part... But, also because we really have no way of knowing if these things are true. We don't know the sources. We don't know who is making up things off the tops of their heads. And I don't want to spend months being upset about certain plot points I'd read about that I wasn't happy with that turn out to not even be true. So, I am just trying to avoid reading anything.

Things will come out without question before the movie comes out. I mean, I believe the novelization actually comes out about a month before the film (which is actually pretty standard for these movies, believe it or not) so I may have to go into hiding between Thanksgiving and December 18th this year.

    8. I bet I know the rumor/adjective you are referring to. The adjective starts with an "a" correct? I agree that one was blown out of proportion and could mean any number of things. I also agree TPTB would likely be careful about giving away too much info on call sheets and might have even put some misleading info to throw people off. I'd be curious to know, from your experience working in film, what type of info do they typically put on call sheets?

I read the spoilers/rumors because I really want to know the answers to three questions before I see this film: 1) Did Han and Leia get married? 2) Are they still together? and 3) Did they have any children? That's it. If TPTB could just let us know the answers to those questions, I would be content to leave the spoilers alone and be surprised. But I admire fans who have the discipline to stay away from the spoilers and rumors completely.

    9. Yes, exactly, the one that starts with an "a." And good job finding a way to confirm without spoiling anything :) I had been so annoyed at that rumor and then heard what it was based on and I was suddenly way less worried. Rumor could still be true, but doesn't feel quite so 100% likely as it did before I learned where it came from.

I basically want to know those three things before I see it as well, but I'm not willing to sift through tons of other rumors to learn that, and again, we don't even know really at this point what is true or not. So even if I read something I think answers that question, maybe it doesn't. I think I'd also wind up trying to only read certain rumors and eventually wind up reading something I wouldn't have wanted to know in advance. So it's just easier to stay away.

      Almost down to 7 months.

  17. Thanks Zyra, and thank you for this site. I just want to clarify, there is no rumor of H/L spending a night together in the movie. It is my *interpretation* of a particular rumor, and unfortunately I can't explain more without talking about the rumor itself.

I'll just say in the broader context, that I also go back and forth on my hopes and fears for how Han and Leia will be portrayed in this film. I understand there has to be conflict and angst in the story, but I do NOT want them separated/divorced, or worse yet, never married at all and childless. But right now, and even being aware of all the spoilers out there, I have a good feeling that our favorite couple will still be together, with offspring. And while I don't think Han and Leia will have too many scenes together, I think in those few scenes we'll see some classic H/L banter, a little mush, at least one kiss, and at least the implication of them spending the night together.

    1. Ah, got it. Yeah, don't elaborate, I will enjoy for now just believing your interpretation to be true ;) I of course always thought it would be awesome if there was some implying things or even a scene of them waking up in bed together or something. I'm not getting my hopes up for any of it.

I do understand the need for conflict or else the story is boring. But... there is SO MUCH other conflict happening in this movie (presumably, I mean it appears there is a new Sith and stormtroopers and lots of things blowing up and TIE fighters chasing the Falcon, and that is just what we know from 60 seconds of footage between two trailers) so I'm not sure why we need to add drama to a relationship that was supposedly kind of already resolved in the other movies. Why not have other personal drama going on? Maybe between parents and children, or potential love stories for the new characters? I just don't think it's necessary.

    2. Zyra, I think you pretty much nailed it. The reasons you list are exactly the same reasons I believe Han and Leia probably won't be separated/divorced in the movie. From what's being said, the story is crammed full of big drama and Han in particular already has a lot of drama going on for his character. So in addition to all that, we're also going to see a storyline of Han being estranged from the love of his life and then reconciling with her in the space of a few scenes? It feels like too much.

Right now I think H/L will have a marriage much like in the EU, where they spend a lot of time apart because of their careers, but are still together. As for any love scenes, because of ageism in Hollywood I don't think we'll see anything racy. Just one, maybe two, "old married couple" kisses, some bantering, and the subtle implication that they spend a night together. But you're right that we shouldn't get our hopes up too much. It's still a long way to December.

    3. Ok, so basically I've got to control myself and not search out any spoilers, because they are most likely inaccurate anyway - which is not surprising...

yup - we are going to have to wait until Dec. 18th, unless something official comes out from Abrams/Disney in another teaser or something....

    4. Hey all. I'm kinda new here and tend to just lurk, but I had to comment. I'm familiar with call sheets for daytime soap operas and I can say it's very difficult to tell what is actually being said based purely on call sheets. In my experience, they show item numbers which are camera angles, characters/actors in that series of shots, and the location (i.e., Hoth hallway, Falcon, etc...). There is nothing on call sheets that shows what type of scene or dialogue being said so the fact that any H/L interaction is based on call sheets are ridiculous. Now, if the call sheet said in a bedroom with only H/L, then it's obvious to guess what is happening, but other than that - it's nearly impossible to dissect.

Maybe call sheets relating to films are different, but based on TV shows - nothing can be remotely confirmed by these call sheets. So, the fact that a conclusion of the spoiler between H/L that was labeled "a" - holds little credibility. JMO.

    5. Welcome to another lurker. I am familiar with call sheets for films and I agree with you, I don't understand how they are extrapolating plot details from them based on the kind of information that we see on those. Scenes that they are in together, sure.

I also wonder if they might be purposely using code names or descriptions on these call sheets to throw people off or something. But it has never made sense to me to piece together the plot from call sheets.

  18. surely JJ is smart enough and sneaky enough to not film critical spoiler scenes with random extras and crew floating around. surely any potentially revealing scene was filmed more than one way? I read a few of the blogs where people are claiming to have blocked out the entire plot from call sheets. I stopped. I am aware of the "a" word rumor also. I've decided I am just going to take what I get and be glad for the chance to see the GFFA again. I have heard enough general comments to feel relatively confident that JJ does not want to make the mistakes George did with the prequel trilogy. that's as far as I am letting myself think,.

    1. JZ, this is kind of what I'm thinking, too. How in the world would major plot points be allowed to be passed around to crew and written on call sheets? And why would they share all of this stuff with so many people? When Vader was Luke's father, the only people who knew that outside of like, George and people who had written it, were Mark and James Earl Jones. Even David Prowse spoke different dialog on the actual set. They shot ROTJ under a code name. I'm just not entirely buying that these details would be so easy to get. I'd think it'd be very easy to have code words for things, or refer to a scene as something but actually it is something else entirely.

I don't really know, but I'm just not putting a lot of thought into this rumor stuff because I'm very skeptical about how they get out.

  19. Hey. Been a lurker here for a long while. I love Han and Leia and I am a fan of all of you writers here! On topic, Latin Times says that Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie has a small role in the film. So far, Latin Times has not been wrong about the rumours. So could there be a young flashback of Leia in the film?

    1. Hey, thanks for coming out from the lurking shadows. Her daughter does have a role, yes. I had thought that was confirmed rather than rumor. She actually just did an interview where she confirmed she will NOT be playing Leia in flashback. No details further than that. I personally never believed that anyway. It wouldn't have bothered me, it just didn't really make sense. Her daughter is already older than she was when she played Leia.

  20. While we're speculating about the upcoming movie and Han and Leia's relationship status, fate or just screen time in it… I was wondering if anybody here is from the UK or going there soon and planning to drop by the great star wars exhibition at Madame Tussauds in London. It's opening on May 16th. I've seen a couple of Harrison Ford wax figures in the past but never one that looks so much like him (and as a young Han Solo). Here's the link: https://starwars.madametussauds.com/london/en/

    1. Damn that Jabba the Hut and Princess Leia wax figures are so spot on, it almost looks as if Carrie is real, alive, breathing, the youthness preserved after all this time. Carrie Fisher can be quite a tricky person to sketch - most of the time they just don't get her nuances right (just see fanfic arts LOL) but Madame Tussauds really outdid themselves this time.

  21. Has anyone actually found a copy of this magazine yet? I've been looking when running various errands at grocery stores, Target and Wallgreens but haven't seen it yet. I want a copy!

I could only see Leia, did they show Han? That likeness is almost scary though for Leia, amazing. And yes every other wax figure I've seen of Harrison doesn't really look like him. I've only in person seen the Indiana Jones one in Las Vegas but I was like... that doesn't look like him.

  22. To see Han's wax figure, go to https://starwars.madametussauds.com/london/en/ then scroll down and you'll see the image of Han in the cantina after the Vader scene on Bespin image.
As for the magazine, it's coming out tomorrow!

  23. In other random Harrison Ford news, while it has still been 2 months since we've seen him in public after the plane crash, they just announced ANOTHER one of his old movies will be getting a sequel or reboot or something, The Fugitive! So Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, The Fugitive. Is he just going to go back and be all of his coolest characters? I really wouldn't mind that, although it makes me sort of sad that we didn't just start doing this 10 years ago. I would like to put in a request for another Air Force One, another turn as Jack Ryan (president this time) and maybe another Witness? I don't know. Let's just hope they leave Hollywood Homicide alone.

  26. I still haven't seen it! Another grocery store run and pharmacy visit, and no Vanity Fair. I think tomorrow I shall have to go to the book store. If they don't have it, there surely is some sort of conspiracy happening.

  27. I picked mine up at Barnes and Noble the other day. I haven't noticed it anywhere else yet...though I wasn't looking too hard. It's so beautiful. :D

  29. I finally found it! Got it at Barnes&Noble. Took me a few minutes even there to find it as I realized I don't even really know what category VF falls under, but apparently men's interest? Doesn't seem quite right, but whatever, I got it! The pictures are so pretty and I'm happy to have a physical copy because you can just see more detail it seems that you miss with just looking online. Such great pictures.

It's more like, aren't Han and Leia awesome? Yes, they are so awesome, I totally agree with you! In the 4 years of existence I can't recall any unpleasantness, so by all means, join us!
