Happy Force Friday!

In case you hadn't heard, today is Force Friday. I honestly don't entirely know why, or when they decided to start calling it that, or if this will become a "thing" every year like May the Fourth or whatever, but for some reason someone in the marketing department decided that this would be a cool idea. So, here we are on Force Friday. And what does it mean? Mostly, the opportunity to spend money. Lots and lots of money. Most of your usual retailers have set aside special Star Wars sections, at least for now. Also the first wave of the "new" EU reading material was released today. I have still not yet decided whether or not I'm going to get into that stuff. Most likely I'll await further review.

Did anyone go check anything out? At this point in my life, while a lot of the stuff looks fun and cool, it is unlikely I'll be buying much. It's all fun to look at and everything, but once I buy it and take it home it's just like, there. So it's tough for me to justify spending money on it. Maybe if I had more room at home.

Oh, except for the remote controlled BB-8. Have you seen that? It is so adorably cute and looks like a lot of fun. I would actually love to play with one of those.

Let me know if any of you have checked anything out or are planning on getting anything. Even if I don't buy anything I think it will still be fun to peruse the merchandise in the stores. It's cool to see so much Star Wars stuff out there again.

  1. I'm about to start reading Aftermath. I'll be back if there's anything notable mentioned about our favorite couple.

    1. Excellent, thanks! I've been really interested to see how they would deal with them in this "new" EU. I don't want them to make it all horrible just for the sake of it being different than last time. That has been a major concern.

    2. Be warned that aside from being referenced by name, none of the Big Three are anywhere in this novel! The plot concerns a mission by a bunch of newbies to "Save Private Antilles".

Likewise, aside from individual cameos, they're really not part of the plot of the Marvel comic "Shattered Empire".

    3. This is sort of a relief to me. First, it means that if they can't make them do anything terrible that will annoy me. And second, it means I don't have to read them, yay!

    4. Han IS in Aftermath, briefly. He's setting off on a mission with Chewie, or so it said in a review that I read.

    5. Yes, there is a small Han and Chewie vignette, where Leia is mentioned. That's it.

  2. I've seen some clothing items I really want. And I need some stuff for the cooler weather. The Rebel Scum sweater at WeLoveFine is a must have.

  3. I looked on the web some. Saw some super cute stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond. I so want that BB-8. It's too cute! But just more stuff isn't it?

But OMG!! We went to see Ant-Man tonight, and guess what? Finally got the Star Wars trailer. Woo-hoo!!! It was the same one as at Celebration, but was awesome. Took me a moment to realize it was the trailer and register I was seeing the Lucasfilm logo. I thought I might have to step out to calm down. It was very cool some people cheered when Han spoke (including me). It was awesome! But why couldn't I get it when in IMAX 3D? Why? :)

    1. I feel in love with the BB-8 toy, that looks brilliant. There's a cute video on youtube of puppies playing with it.

Pleased you finally got the trailer, Amara ;)

  4. I ordered from Amazon and got the 8 books that came out yesterday (Aftermath adult novel, YA novel Lost Stars, YA novels about Luke/Leia/Han, and 3 picture books). I went to a Target and Toys 'R' Us today and did find some Artoo stuff. Both stores were completely sold out of the action figures and picked over with the other toys. No BB at either store. I have to go to another city to the closest Disney store but hope to get there later in the month when they have restocked.
Which stores might have adult sized T-shirts?

  5. I really almost can't believe how many different stores are getting in on the Star Wars merchandise. Not that I'm complaining.

Just wanted to make you guys aware of this cool promo for some of the radio dramas. http://www.starwars.com/news/humble-bundle-launches-star-wars-audiobook-offer?linkId=16835438 We did some reviews of these on here and I would definitely recommend them. The OT radio dramas are pretty cool, and ANH has a TON of back story stuff before they even get to what we all see in the movie. Leia with Bail and stuff going on with Alderaan, and then Luke on Tatooine with his friends. Dark Empire and Dark Empire II I also found enjoyable.

    1. Have read and thoroughly enjoyed almost all of the TFA YA (4) novels. Still working on "Lost Stars". An earlier poster here is correct- "Aftermath" reveals NOTHING about the Big Three, and it's not even that good of a story. The 3 Big Three YA novels are all excellent, however, and drop clues about what the characters will be doing in TFA.

If you want to read a SW novel with original characters, "Lost Stars" is a great Romeo and Juliet type read, and drops some TFA clues, too.

  6. Kohls had awesome adult ladies t-shirts that even look great on my middle aged curvy body. I am having some difficulty deciding which one. They are more expensive than I would usually go for, so unless they go on a good sale, I'll be having to choose. 😢
