Breaking News: Disney Purchases Lucasfilm, Episode 7 Due in 2015!

Did anybody else think that headline was a joke?  When I heard this bit of news, that was what I thought immediately.  Wait, is it April Fool's Day?  Like when they told us that the Holiday Special was coming to blu ray?  Or that the entire EU was comprised of clones?  Nope, further investigation seems to tell me that this is very, very real:

https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/blog/disney-acquire-lucasfilm

I would love to hear some opinions here.  For me, I'm not sure what to think just yet.  If you told me I wouldn't be practically screaming with joy over talk of a new Star Wars movie, I'd have laughed at you.  Yet what I'm feeling is much more like cautious dread than thrilled excitement.  Maybe it's because almost everything new they've done with Star Wars since I was in preschool turned out to be... less than stellar.  I don't remember when exactly they announced the prequel trilogy, but I do know it was somewhere in my late teens and at the time I had high hopes for some of the coolest new movies ever.  I think we can all relate to the sinking feeling in our stomachs when we actually saw the movies and felt the painful disappointment.  Maybe I'm just afraid to get my hopes up at the risk of feeling that again.  If I expect it to suck, and I go see it (which I will, no matter what it is, because I'm a sucker) and it turns out to be not the worst thing ever, maybe I'll feel better.

If you didn't look at the article, it already promises us Episode 7 for 2015.  There are no details about what time frame it would cover and obviously this leaves a ton of room for a lot of different options.  Would it be the characters we know and love?  Would it abolish the EU as we know it?  Would it skip forward far enough in time that we wouldn't recognize anyone and it wouldn't conflict with so much that has already been written?  Would they actually have the audacity to recast new people in such established roles?  What would be the main conflict?  So many questions!!!  So many possibilities!!!  And why instead of seeing it as so many opportunities for awesomeness am I seeing it as so many opportunities for things to go wrong?

What would I even want to see?  Probably part of my skepticism and lack of enthusiasm stems from the fact that if I thought up my ideal scenario for an Episode 7, it would probably be the least likely option.  That is, of course, a live action film that includes Han, Leia and Luke.  But the actors are old, and we can all probably agree that Harrison would never do it (maybe those reports I heard randomly of him having turned down $40 million for another Star Wars movie actually were true, I absolutely did not believe that) and I just don't see it happening.  I don't even know who they'd be fighting against.

One possibility to combat the whole age thing, is CGI.  This is actually something I'd thought of before, when only in my wildest dreams did I think that they would ever make an Episode 7.  Actually, if you'd asked me up until like an hour ago when I became aware of this, I'd have probably bet all of my money on this kind of thing never, ever happening.  I've been wrong before.  Anyway, my thought was that the only way I'd accept an Episode 7 at this point would be if they just went ahead and made it entirely CGI, or basically a cartoon.  Like, let's stop pretending we're trying to even make it look like reality and even animate the actors.  Which would mean that they could somewhat realistically animate Han, Leia and Luke and make them younger and let the actors voice the parts.  I mean, how could he not at least voice the character?  It's millions of dollars for very little work!  Anyway, that, I think, might possibly work.  I doubt that's what they'll be doing, but it would be great if they did.

Basically the only thing that makes sense is jumping way, way in the future and showing us characters we've never seen before, though possbily descendants of our beloved heroes.  Maybe they can somehow give us some proof of Han and Leia having been happily married for 75 years before dying in each others arms of extreme old age.  It could happen, right?  There are just so many directions to go with this, I don't even know where to start.  And I hate that my head instantly goes to the thought of them ruining everything rather than actually making an awesome new movie.  Have I really become that cynical?

As for Disney's involvement, I don't know how I feel about that, either.  Listen, I enjoy Disney World.  This makes me nervous, though.  Although someone pointed out to me that Disney bought Marvel and that hasn't proven to be a bad thing.  Disney also bought the Muppets and their new movie was the best one they've put out since Jim Henson died.  And really, how could Disney wreck Star Wars any more than Lucas himself already did?

AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!  I don't know what to think!!!

  1. My husband just called with this news, interestingly enough after my best friend brought over a Minnie Mouse as Leia souvenir from her recent trip.

I don't know how I feel about Disney owning them. True, they didn't mess with Marvel or the Muppets. Lucas always said he owned the movies so that he could do with them what he wanted, and we've seen the good of being independent from studio control (Empire) and the bad of having no one stepping into to control Lucas's ideas (the prequels).

The merchandising is all ready rampant, so no change there I suspect.

I wonder what Disney will think of fanfic with it's wholesome family image?

The films, I agree, would be best for me as animated/OT characters. I argue with my husband that the reason I'm not as angry about the PT as he is because they didn't ruin my favorite characters (H and L) while it ruined his fave, Vader. Why get new actors to play very well established roles? I heard somewhere that Lucas had wanted to do sequel movies with Cade Skywalker, 100 years later. I don't know how much I'd care about these new people.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. And still enjoy our own OT characters and fanfic world.

  2. Anyone worried about fanfic, there is already plenty of unwholesome fanfic tarnishing Disney characters. I think you will see precisely zero impact there.

  3. I was a bit surprised by the announcement, but guess I shouldn't have been. SW and Indy have been at the parks for some time and Disney had a pretty big presence at Celebration.

I can completely understand and share your trepidation about it. It really could go either way with Episode 7. I think Episode I left a bad taste in a lot of our mouths. I remember when I saw it thinking "I waited all these years for this?" I wonder how far in the future will they go. Tossing out the EU wouldn't suck. But do any of us want to see the Solo boys die or go bad? Ugh. I certainly would hate to see the roles recast. That would just really blow. I think the idea of CGI/cartoon would be pretty good if they try to use the original characters. But there are so many possibilities for sure.

As far as Disney owning Lucasfilm,a little unsure about that as well. There is no telling how that will go. I think they bought Marvel after the Avengers movie. Not sure how that will turn out yet. I am concerned they will try to make SW really family friendly. It's never been that over the top I don't think. I would just hate for it to get overly tame. Disney has been releasing the Pirates movies under the Disney name and for a long time they wouldn't release anything above a G with the Disney name on it. They'd use one of their other companies to release it. So hopefully it won't be too bad and the first Pirates movie was outstanding. And Kathleen Kennedy from Lucasfilm will be in charge.

I had the same thoughts about fanfic, Char. I'm not sure how Disney would feel about it. But Zyra's probably right. And we got to keep Han and Leia having some fun. ;)

  4. And like the comment about Lucas wrecking Star Wars. True!

  5. I'm going to join Zyra in the cynical club. Am I excited about this? Absolutely not. No way. I didn't really care too much about the prequels, they were set before our beloved characters were born. What harm could they do? They were crap, but who cares, because we still had the awesome OT. But now, we have something that could tarnish everything we love, and turn it all upside down.

As much as a critic of the EU as I am, I would rather they at least try to keep a semi continuity going with it. You know why? Because the alternative could be much worse. Call me a pessimist, but think of the absolute worst thing they could do......what if we learn from this new movie that Han and Leia didn't get married, didn't have kids, hell, didn't even last...where does that leave us? This is my biggest worry.

But hey, look on the bright side I guess. No EU means, no COPL, right?

  6. Lucas has officially and literally SOLD OUT! Agreed with other comments that Disney couldn't possibly ruin SW any more than Lucas did himself. Thank goodness for Irvin Kershner and Harrison Ford in ESB, or really would any of us be here? I think with Disney we can expect lots of CGI/animation - e.g., the Clone Wars on cartoon network, probably nothing of any interest to adults.

  7. I'm not sure what to think either. First reaction was 'this is a joke'. The lack of information regarding the timeline of the films has me a bit nervous, as most of the characters fates have been plotted out in the EU, however I suppose there is always room for a new characters or possibly a film series about the Old Republic. It is always about the story in the end, and for film - strong actors and books emotional writing. I am concerned for the EU. I follow Jennifer Heddles tweets and she tweets they don't know anything about what is going to happen with the EU. I would feel really bad for all of the people who have worked so hard over the past twenty years to develop the characters and stories in the EU even if I didn't like where some of it went, if they choose to ignore it all. This is going to be one of those wait and see. If the powers that be were smart they would put some of the fan concerns to rest sooner rather than later. Lack of information just leads to speculation. We need more information please.

Well, Seams2Be, they have already done it, with the PT! So things can't get any worse because all the damage has already been done. I have read only some of the EU but even with that little experience I know some parts they ignored with the PT. Or, not even ignored, as Lucas used to say "I haven't really thought about that..."

This situation is a little bit like Luke saving his father to the good side. He succeeded, but a lot of damage is done, and it can't be just wiped out. "Maybe Vader had died heroically, but ten minutes of contrition did not make up for years of atrocities."
As Leia tells the Force ghost of her father in Wookieepedia
Disney would be Luke, Anakin is StarWars and Vader is the PT...

  8. Good one okhotshot77. Indeed where would any of us be?

That's an interesting point about the EU, seams. I wouldn't mind them changing some things about it. But it's an awful lot of work of they just jettison it.

I did find two more articles about it. The CNN one is most interesting. It said Lucas would be a creative consultant for Episode 7. There was a comment about Disney wanting to relaunch the franchise. But then there is a quote from Iger that they understand and respect the importance of iconic characters. So who knows? More information at the point would be good to end some of the speculation. At least a setting for the movie or something.

    1. I guess it's sort of good that they are talking about the iconic characters. At the same time, I feel at this point it is hugely possible that they might recast them. Let's compare to Star Trek. Chris Pine just played Captain Kirk, who is a hugely iconic character. I personally don't really care about Star Trek, though I enjoyed the new movie, so I really have no idea how true fans felt about recasting that role. Or Spock or any of the others. Anyone have any insight there? Maybe it's true that at some point you have to get over it and just accept that they are going to make some new stuff. Did that movie "ruin" Star Trek? I don't think I ever heard anyone say anything like that. But then again, that was always more of just an episodic series with a lot of different stories going on rather than an epic saga following a MAJOR story arc of its characters. Maybe I'm wrong there, as again, I don't know a lot about Star Trek, it just seems like a valid comparison in this case.

Thinking of other people being Han, Leia and Luke makes me want to cry.

      Delete
    2. Oh I'm so with you, Zyra. I would be devasted if they recast them. I really don't know if I could still be a fan. I just cannot see Han and Leia looking like smeone else, there's no way I can get my head round that. Part of why they mean so much to me is because I adore the way that Harrison and Carrie portrayed them. It just won't work with anyone else.

This speculation is killing me, we need to know more, and somehow I think they are going to keep us hanging for a while yet.

  9. Posted by Timothy Zahn on Facebook today:

"You go away for a weekend...

We got home from Tampa and Necronomicon late last night (after a full day of flying) to the stunning news of the Disney/Lucasfilm deal. It's going to take a little time to process my thoughts, but I'll try to post some comments here later today.

But to answer a few of the most immediate questions:

    1. No, I haven't been contacted by either Disney or LFL.
    2. There's no indication that anything from the Thrawn Trilogy (or any other EU book/comic will be part of the new movies.
    3. There's also no indication that they *won't* make an appearance. Right now, we really have nothing on any of those details.
    4. If Disney *did* want to use anything from the EU, they wouldn't need the author's approval or permission to do so. Everything that's been written under the Star Wars logo is LFL properly (as is only right and proper), and they can do with it as they please.
    5. If by some miracle Disney *does* want my input on the project, I *will* be on the next flight to California. Heck, I'll charter a plane if I have to"

    1. further update from Timothy Zahn:

"Now that my brain has recovered from our Tampa trip, I've realized there's really no point in speculating any further on the future of Star Wars until we hear some actual plans for Episode 7. (Especially since everyone else out there is doing all of that speculating for me. )

In the meantime, there's really only one thing we need to keep in mind: HOKEY SMOKE! WE'RE GETTING MORE STAR WARS MOVIES!"

      Delete
    2. This is my feeling on it, as well. I've stopped speculating already because I'm only going to be torturing myself for what, at least a year before details maybe start leaking, and worst case another 2+ years while they put this movie together. While I still haven't crossed the line into excited, I'm just done with letting my mind come up with all of the worst case scenarios. "OMG, they're going to like, kill Han two days after the end of ROTJ and Leia will be auctioned off to the highest bidder and forced to marry some horrible man just to produce Jedi offspring!"

Seriously, why would they do something really awful?

      Delete
    3. LOL, Zyra. That little scenario is ten times worse than ANY I conjured up! :)

Anyway the top Disney guy said today there won't be anymore REAL news on episode 7 until next summer....so I need to stop torturing myself I think.

I'd love to know if kathleen Kennedy is a Han and Leia fan though..if she mentioned them as being favs in an interview or something then I'd be reasonably content that she's going to do good things with them and won't let us down.

  10. my first thought was that Disney has had the license in the parks for some time and it's not totally unexpected, timing aside. second thought, OMG a new movie!!! third thought, oh hell, it's probably going to be animated. fourth thought, OMG maybe it will be about the Thrawn trilogy. fifth thought, oh, hell, what if they ruin it? sixth thought, OMG it could be so awesome though. seventh thought, double hell, they'll probably use some Disney Channel actors and it will suck suck suck. eight thought, OMG OMG please let them do this right.

Looking on the bright side, I was terrified that Warner Bros and Universal would destroy Harry Potter and I was pleasently surprised by how it all turned out. so maybe the Empire of the Mouse will be ok in the end... but I am going to worry over it in my head for a long time until more news comes out.

  11. There is a series of video interview segments with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy that began yesterday on Starwars.com. Uncle George says he has story treatments ready for 7,8,9. He also said something like "we already have hundreds of novels, comics, video games etc. that could be material for other films"

    1. Forgot to add -- I think the new Reader's guide book said something about the post ROTJ stories with Luke, Leia, Han being wound up with one of the books coming out next year. Maybe movies 7,8,9 will be in the time period between "present time" for Luke etc, and the comic books that are hundreds of years in the future?

  12. Well I'm not jumping for joy but I'm not overly concerned either. I was a Star Trek fan before Star Wars (yes I'm that old) and all the various incarnations of ST - Next Gen (loved), DS9 (meh), Voyager (garbage), restart (actually liked that although I was originally skeptical), and Enterprise (not a fan).

While I have trouble picturing Han and Leia as anyone other than Carrie and Harrison, I'm perfectly ok with re-casting Luke (never was a fan of Mark H) and it could be interesting to see a 100 years in the future - H/L decendants leading jedi against "well" whatever. there are young actors that could easily pass as H/L decendants - Jeremy Renner for example.

I guess I'll just see what happens and decide whether Episode 7 is worth a trip to the theater or waiting till Netflix or DVD picks it up.

    1. I read elsewhere on-line that Star Trek fans are concerned that ramping up Star Wars publicity now will hurt the next Star Trek Movie next year.

  13. After mulling this over for a day, I guess I'm just more curious than anything. I do think Disney has the talent to pull off the films. And like you said, how much worse could it possibly get anyway?

I did read an article earlier about Lucas meeting with Mark and Carrie over the summer to tell them about going on with the films. The author seemed to get the idea that perhaps Lucas wanted them back, but who knows.

Recasting...I don't know that it would be so devastating for me. Unless the actors were terrible. I might have a difficult time connecting the old characters with the 'new' ones.

Really couldn't care less about EU consistency.

  14. You know what I should also say about this? No matter what it turns out to be, I'd say there is about a 99% chance I will be one of the first people in line for a ticket. Seriously, how crazy is it to have a movie franchise that you have loved since as far back as you can remember watching movies (again, I was 3 years old when I actually have a memory of going to see ROTJ in the theater, and I even confirmed it with the mom -not mine- who brought us to see it!) keeps on going and will be coming out with more through your mid-late 30s after having entertained you at least a little bit in your late teens and 20s? I almost wish they'd leave me alone so I can get a life!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow. That's kind of bad if Zahn didn't know. Interesting. I had one tidbit from Celebration VI in August that Carrie was running late on Saturday because supposedly she had lunch with George. Don't know what they talked about, but it was interesting given this news.

I'm with Elivagar and Zyra on this one I think. I am very curious where they are going with this. The fan girl in me can't help but go, "OMG, a new movie! Yay!" ;) But it's so hard to tell what the movie will be. And I probably will be buying a ticket myself. I don't know how I'd react to it if they recast the roles. It would depend on who they got. I think I'd be more upset if they change the story. The story is great as is. But as for recasting, not sure I'd like it, but might have to reserve judgement on that.

I do have one glimmer of hope. They are calling them Episodes 7, 8, and 9. That implies a certain level of continuity in the story and not a remake. Otherwise, why would you call it Episode 7? And don't forget, George wrote Episodes 1-9 all at the same time or so he says. ;)

Hubby had a couple of comments about it. Leave it to him to find the joke in it. He figures Lucas will have enough input into 7 that it'll be just fine, but then they'll ruin 8 because of no input from him. He also suggested they might remake the movie but with the Disney characters. That one had me laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really have no idea what to think as far as the whole new episodes thing goes...but I do agree, Harrison would, sadly, never do it. But we can always hope. I do think that if they include the characters of Han/Luke/Leia and not have them portrayed by the original actors (because how...really...is that going to work unless it's way in the future)...that they should bring in new people, like they did originally. I'm sure there are three people out there that strongly resemble Mark Carrie and Harrison...although they'll never be true replacements. It sounds like these three will be more of side-characters though, so who knows.

As far as Disney doing it, I have complete confidence in them. Many people thing that this is going to be a huge "Disney-Production" similar to the way they do their animated films, but it's not going to work like that. While Disney does own Lucasfilm, the new Star Wars films will be made BY LucasFilm, and they will just report to Disney...so everything will basically be the same, just without the direction of George Lucas (he's creative something or other though) and the original actors that we all love. Plus, with what Disney and Lucasfilm did with Star Tours at Disney World and Disneyland, I think that it will work out just fine.

But the EU...as long as they don't include Courtship, I'm fine. LOL. I really couldn't care less if they follow the storyline as much as I'm concerned about how authentic the characters will be...because if Harrison won't do it...I might almost die if they replace him with someone who really lacks (but then again...who wouldn't lack?)

Or have some really good input. At least they have some experience with action movies now like Pirates and National Treasure.

I just don't see any other "Big 3" You CANT recast those 3. My ideal movie would be about the rise/fall of Jacen. Not my favorite plot from EU but that's the only way I can see them incorporating the original 3. I'm with you though about Harrison but I am gonna try and keep positive that if he only has a small role, he'll do it.

  20. I've given this a lot of thought. I really do believe that if Han,Leia and Luke are part of these sequels then the writers would have needed to know where Harrison stands BEFORE they even started messing around with ideas. Just imagine they write a significant role for Han, then it goes to the casting stage and Harrison says, "No way, I'm done with Solo", then they have a huge problem. I think Harrison's involvement in this was probably one of the first things to be determined. Whether he really is going to come back, I guess we won't know for a while.

Oh and they won't recast. No way. A poll at theforce.net says 97% are against recasting anyone. It ain't gonna happen.

  21. Reports now that Harrison had been approached and was very open to returning as Han. I'm really tired of these reports, but I have to admit that the idea of getting to see Han Solo on screen again makes me about a hundred times more excited about the prospect of these movies, now. Yes, I know, they could do awful things with him. I could be naive but I really don't think they'd bring him back just to do something stupid. I mean, could he die? Sure. But we have to remember that this is probably going to be like, 75-year old Han Solo. It would actually kind of make sense if he died. I'll tell you right now that it would probably make me cry more than any scene in the history of movies if he did, but, provided of course this occurs heroically and after a long and wonderful life married to Leia, I could deal with it.

I don't know if I can stand another 2+ years of sporadic reports on what is going to happen in these movies.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am in total agreement. If Han dies aged 70 plus, I'd be sad, but as long as we know him and Leia had many years of happiness together then basically, I can deal with it. What I can't deal with right now are people basically writing Han and leia off, which is what I'm reading a lot of. People seem to think that Leia will put her duty to be trained as a Jedi before the love of her life and because Jedi can't even fall in love she will more than likely end the relationship after ROTJ because being a Jedi is sooo much more important than her own personal happiness. I wanted to cry reading stuff like that, and you know what kills me inside? I think it could actually happen. I am still very very worried.

    Please cheer me up :(

They won't do that to our darlings will they?

    1. I'm going to try and remain cautiously optimistic. I mean, I guess I just don't see the point of bringing them back if you're just going to tell us that everything sucked for them or they had nothing to do with each other for 30 years. Let's say that Leia decided to become a Jedi and forget about Han. If that were the case, what relevance could Han Solo possibly have to movies 40 years after ROTJ? How could they justify bringing him back? It's not like he'd stick with the New Republic if Leia had dumped him.

And I'm also not sure they can truly justify dropping the entire EU, so I feel like it's somewhat likely that it would be Han and Leia after all that they've already been through that we've read about. You all remember how solid their relationship has been for the last, say, 20+ books, right? That's not a bad place to be starting from.

This is what I'm choosing to believe for now.

      Delete
  23. I don't think they can justify dropping the entire eu either. They are going to piss off a hell of a lot of people who have invested so much time and money in it. And I'm going out on a limb and supporting the eu, after all the bad things I've said about it, I'd rather have THAT reality for Han and Leia, even with the crap they put them through, than the thought of an even worse future for them. I'm not saying they should adapt any of the books, it can be set at a point in time not covered. But they need to make references to things we know from the eu. It needs to fit within it. If they do that, I will be very happy.

I'm still clinging to the theory flying around that Crucible is very significant to the sequel trilogy and will be the bridge from the written word back to the big screen. And all of the big 3 are age perfect now for this to work.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think I have to agree with being cautiously optimistic. It hardly seems the point to show Han and Leia so loving towards each other at the end of ROTJ just to have her leave him after the movie. And it would be awfully hard to and a bummer to just drop the whole EU. Really not fair to everyone that has worked so hard on it. Not like Zahn is just another nobody. He's kind of the father of the EU, isn't he? You'd think they'd try to respect that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm a little late in commenting here (I know, so unlike me). But I'm pretty ambivalent to this news. If whatever they do sucks, then I'll just ignore it (after I pay money for it, ofcourse) and if it's halfway decent then I'll tolerate it. But if it's totally awesome, how totally awesome would that be? So I guess maybe I'm a little excited...just a little, though.

Also, I'm not surprised or worried by the fact that Tim Zahn didn't know. As an employee of a company that is heavily into the Mergers and Acquisitions trade, I know that that stuff just can't be shared until the deal is made public. So unless Zahn sat on the Board of Directors or something or was co-owner of LucasFilms, he shouldn't have know anything about it, just like the rest of us. I don't think it's a sign or anything.

I can't see them trashing the entire EU. They have created some pretty memorable and cherished characters that they can now capitalize on (remember it's all about the money). But it could be a time for them to take some artistic license and fix some things (cough, cough, COPL, cough).

This actually might be a good thing.

  27. And we have a confirmed writer. I have to say I was kind of hoping we'd have more of a lull between big news like this. Now I'm just incredibly nervous again.

    1. I'm optimistic about this guy, Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine have great screenplays.

    2. I do agree with that. Am I the only one who feels like Toy Story 3 is the only movie ever in which at the end I actually thought they were going to kill the main characters? "No, they're going into the incinerator! They have nothing left to live for!" Anyway...

I agree the credentials give him a lot of promise. It's just making it seem all the more real and therefore all the more possible that they might do something awful I would hate to see.

    3. Yes, he has good writing credentials, no question. But, and here's the big but...it's the story he comes up not the quality of the writing. He could be the best screenwriter in the world and still do something awful with the characters. Plus he's building it from Lucas' own story treatments, which to be honest, I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.

He's apparently a huge sw fan and well versed in all it's mythology...so that at least is a glimmer of hope.

    4. So who is it? Do you have a link? Please share as I've had my head stuck in SW Angry Birds and haven't had time to look at the web. :)

  28. Zyra I agree with you so much!!! I'm so scared they ruin my fantasies even of the time after ROTJ. They already did it for the time before ANH. Oh, why not just copy it here, because I would just write it in different words and worse English, so let's just save time, efford and my nerves! ;)

"I don't remember when exactly they announced the prequel trilogy, but I do know it was somewhere in my late teens and at the time I had high hopes for some of the coolest new movies ever. I think we can all relate to the sinking feeling in our stomachs when we actually saw the movies and felt the painful disappointment. Maybe I'm just afraid to get my hopes up at the risk of feeling that again. If I expect it to suck, and I go see it (which I will, no matter what it is, because I'm a sucker) and it turns out to be not the worst thing ever, maybe I'll feel better."

Disney itself doesn't make me nervous. You probably know by now that at least Carrie and Mark are joining the project. That's news I was surprised, Carrie telling George ruining her life and so on. If I was George, I would be hurt and wouldn't even ask her! ;D Well, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve every word Carrie says! :D

I don't want a cartoon if it is as ugly as Clone Wars. I hate the thought of Leia's pretty hair, everybody's hair and beard, going like Clone Wars... BUT we have Disney now. So we would probably have a better quality, if it's not like Hercules or something... I don't like style of drawing in that movie and some other Disney movies.

Talking about Disney and Star Wars... I've always thought that Leia in the beginning of ANH looks just like Snow White! "girl who is white as snow, red as blood, and with hair as black as ebony"

It would be the safest way if the new trilogy is about completely new people, not Han, Luke and Leia, but I guess I wouldn't be interested to see it. If it was about them, I'm scared to get hurt.

  29. There has been NO OFFICIAL word on Mark or Carrie being involved in the sequel trilogy as yet, just wanted to point that out. Plenty of speculation, yes, but it's too soon to say they are actually involved with the project. Infact the ONLY thing we know for sure right now is that the writer is the same guy who wrote Toy Story 3.

I agree, I'd much rather none of the big three were in it at all. I'd rather not see them on screen ever again than have them screwed over. But I guess we have to trust in the Force, and remain cautiously optimistic.

  30. Oh that's a good point Claire! Maybe I'm just hoping so much that I forgot about the facts! :D I don't remember where I recently saw Carrie's latest picture and she's got so beautiful again! Not that an over-weight person is ugly, NO! But I think she's the princess again.

And about the Toy Story 3 writer... I'm cautiously optimistic. The Force might be strong in this one. I mean, I'm person who always hates the Disney's sequels, ALWAYS!!!! Except the Toy Story. It just gets better and better.
