Please Tell Me One of You Can Attend This Event...

... because I live nowhere near here and can't.  Anyone see this?

http://brea.improv.com/show.cfm?id=190764

Yeah, this looks awesome and also gives the impression that it is a one weekend event, not like Wishful Drinking where she will be cruising the country putting on shows for years.  So please, please someone go and report back to the rest of us and find a way to participate and ask the kinds of questions you know we all want to ask!  The tickets are amazingly cheap, too!

  1. Well I definitely won't be going, unfortunately.

But man, there are loads of questions I would love to ask her. One would be whether or not there really was a wedding scene planned for the end of ROTJ and if it was actually shot. I've just always wanted to know that.

Of course I am dying to know just HOW close she got with Harrison off camera, but would anyone have the nerve to even broach that subject with her?

  2. Lol, I just clicked on that link. I love the possible exceptions that she probably won't be answering questions on. Cock size? Ok, I KNOW what everybody is thinking in regard to that one. Come on. Well, we are not interested in Paul Simon's now are we? ;)

    1. I hadn't even READ that! Well, she is at least being up front in that regard, right? ;) And no, I really couldn't care less about Paul Simon's. Almost makes me wish that she and Harrison weren't good friends, because then she would probably say everything ;)

Besides, it only says MAY, not definitely. I bet if she is in the right frame of mind with the right group of people she might talk.

Come on, doesn't anyone live at least in the same time zone?

  3. Wish wish I lived close by, but sadly no. Excellent questions, Claire! I'd love to know the answers to both of them. Lol, Zyra! No kidding. Nice they are friends, but we need details.

  4. I saw this. I'm about 4-5 hours away from there, but unfortunately there's a 99% chance I would kill myself trying to drive in LA, so me driving is out. There's only one person I know that would definitely be down to go with me, but her schedule is always a mess. I'll see what I can do, but I'm making no promises.

  5. So, it looks like I may have found a travelling buddy. If we end up going, it'll be Sunday.

    Throw me some questions!

    1. Yeah! You win Han Leia Fanfic Writers Blog member of the year! Take thorough notes and be ready with a report! I'd go with a more innocent question, just as her what it was like kissing him and if she screwed up takes on purpose so they'd have to keep doing it :)

    2. Definitely a good question! I'd ask about how long that trip to Bespin was, but I suspect that is a question for Lucas.

    3. You could include in the question the fact that the Mad Magazine Jedi parody that came out at the time of the movie did end with the wedding. That idea must have been floating around somewhere at the time.

  6. Yay!! That's so great, elivagar.

You know we all want to know about her and Harrison. But I just can't see her answering anything along those lines...but if you're feeling brave, you could try it...even if she doesn't answer outright, knowing Carrie she will give us something to ponder over.

  7. Excellent! Ask about the supposed wedding at the end of ROTJ. That would be interesting. Would love to ask about her relationship with Harrison, but Claire is probably right. Will see if I think of anything else.

  8. Got the tickets! When I went to buy them, it required that I type in a question. I went with the wedding one just because I figured it was more likely to get answered. Although I still kinda wish I went with Zyra's. The only reason I didn't was because I had just watched a video from Celebration where someone asked if Mark or Harrison was the better kisser. She pulled out the story about Harrison slipping an oyster into another actress' mouth, and said that screen kissing was weird. She seems to be good at avoiding those sorts of questions. :P

Anyway, I'm stoked! I'll make sure to bring you guys back a detailed report. It's also sort of funny that the person I'm going with has never seen a Star Wars movie, but she was all for going.

    1. I'm so excited (and extremely jealous) for you!

That was probably a good question to ask because you actually want to know the answer and there is no reason NOT to answer it. She is definitely good at evading certain questions or answering them without REALLY answering them. But in that case we can usually draw our own conclusions anyway ;)

OMG, you know someone who has never seen a Star Wars movie? And you're friends with this person? And they wanted to go? I love that line in her Wishful Drinking show when she says something about, "For those of you who have never seen Star Wars, and if you haven't, then why are you here?" I don't really care though as long as you can go :)

    2. Oh, I'd also be intersted in just asking her what it's like to be a writer and how she enjoys it or whatever. She is just one of the wittiest people and I'd love to do that kind of thing. Although my background involves parents who stayed together, no drugs, no stints at mental hospitals, no fame and fortune... so I'd have to write about someone else ;)

    3. Haha, I know quite a few people who have never seen SW, but I've slowly been forcing my DVDs on all of them. :D

  9. Oh goodness, I saw this the other day and I really wanted to go, but obviously I can't. It's awesome that you're going though Elivager! AWESOME!!!!

I can't think of any questions off the top of my head (other than those already said considering her relationship with Harrison...but who wouldn't want to know about that?) I do think that Zyra's point on asking her about her writing is great, since I would love to be a professional writer myself, and considering the fact that she is seriously one of the funniest authors I've read in a while.

So yeah, can't wait for that report!!! And don't forget to have lots of fun!!! =)

  10. At Celebration she had a couple of comments about being a writer. She said she doesn't like to write but likes to have written. And something to the effect of she writes to deal with all the stuff in her head.

  11. Hey, what's happened to the polls? They've all been reset to no votes...weird.

Anyway, it's pretty funny that the pic on the poster for Carrie's show is her as Blue Milk Leia! :)

  13. Have fun today! And take careful notes! And should anyone discover this blog after having seen their own version of the show and wants to let us know how it went, please do!

  14. Somebody should ask her if she has ever seen BMS Leia, who is way more Carrie than Leia.

  15. Get home and get on your computer and tell us about it!!!!!

Also, I have no idea what happened to the polls :( I just hope it's not permanent.

  16. PART 1: Alright guys, I am alive and back home! Let's see...

So, she came up on stage with her dog, Gary, sat on her couch and pulled out her e-cigarettes. Intent on getting all of the Star Wars stuff out of the way, she started off with my question. Sorry to crush your dreams of the ROTJ wedding, but it was never written. She did entertain us with her idea of a wedding, that Han should have "made an honest princess" of her. There would have been a best man, and best robot. They would have had "little Jimmy Solo...and Susan Solo". She also reckoned that Yoda would marry them, but that they would all have to be looking down at him.

And for the record, she would marry an ewok over a wookiee because ewoks are easier to handle and you can shave them.

She showed us clips from the Holiday Special while she did commentary, and that only years later she realized she was singing the actual Star Wars theme with lyrics. She sang along, and it was wonderful. Later, she played a loop of Leia's breasts bouncing around in A New Hope. (con't)...

  17. PART 2:

This was probably my favorite story of the evening. On the subject of bra-less Carrie, she showed that picture of her at the Empire premiere where she's pointing at Harrison. She brought up the fact that her father, Eddie, had at one point slept with Princess Margaret, who had attended the premiere. Harrison came up to Carrie later and said, "Clearly, your father will fuck anyone."

There was a couple dressed as Han and Leia...except backwards. She asked if 'this' affected their relationship. Apparently at one of the other shows, she had some guy reenact a scene from the movie Soapdish (I've never seen it, but I got from it was the waiter asks if 'she would like wine with that' and she says 'try it again, but this time without your shirt') so naturally, the guy took off his shirt in front of everyone (there's a picture of that on her facebook). So, she invited someone from our audience to do the same. The Princess Leia man was the only one who dared to. He was a bit overweight with 'man boobs', or as she called them, 'moobs'. She had to help him unzip the back of his dress though. ;)

She also showed us her tatoo of a sun and a moon on her ankle (that looked like Turkey's flag) that she says she got when she was manic. The tatoo artist had done a background on it so from far away it looks like an awful bruise. She commented that it looked like she had been 'kicked by the solar system, though in a way, she had been'.

The "question" from the female Han Solo was that she would get a tatoo of anything she would draw on her, as long as she signed it. Carrie repeated over and over that she couldn't draw whilst doing it anyway. I should probably note that this couple was also drunk.

The entire time, her dog, who she swears had behaved the last few nights, was going nuts over whatever she had up there with her. At one point she had to take something from him (I couldn't tell what it was, but the dog was ripping it to shreds)and hand it off to someone in the audience.

But all too soon, the fun ended and she carried Gary off with her.

My friend really enjoyed her, again, even having never seen a Star Wars movie.

We walked out to the car, and sat there for a while letting it air out. I noticed some guys with stacks of old Princess Leia promo photos. I thought, 'hey, I wonder if she'll come out and sign some stuff...'. Just as we had decided to head off, I see her come out and bolt out of the car like a crazy person. It was just a small group of us, but we all got our precious scribbles. I didn't get any photos signed though, I thought it would be cooler to get one of my Leia sketches signed...and I did! Check it out:

She sort of paused looking at it for a second so I told her 'yeah, I drew a picture of you'. She told me it was very nice. It's pretty lame, but it was pretty awesome getting any sort of compliment on my work (of her) from her.

    My day was complete. :D

  18. I love that she started with YOUR question and I do love that she made some silly comments about what the wedding and the marriage would be like. Jimmy and Susan Solo sound better and I bet they wouldn't have died young ;) What other sorts of things did she talk about? Was it just a lot of stuff she's already said/written in her various forms of Wishful Drinking? I think I would've had to have gone to all of the shows.

And that's great that you brought your pic of her and she signed it in a way that you can actually tell she signed it. Awesome!

  19. That is cool she opened with your question. Love that about Han making an honest princess out of her. And funny she's joking about the holiday special. She seems to like to pick on it. And nice comment from the premiere. :)

Score on the autograph! Very cool. And to think I paid for one at Celebration. Thunking head against desk now. :)

  20. Wow, what a fantastic evening you had! Can't believe she picked your question first, how cool is that?

I love how Carrie just has a natural ability to make everything funny.

Lol on her dad and Princess Margaret, although I'm actually not that surprised. She was a bit of goer was Margaret, and probably an embarrassment to the Queen.

But damn it, ain't it always the way, you always think of a brilliant question after the fact! wouldn't it be brilliant to ask Carrie what she thinks Han and Leia got up to on the way to Bespin? And she may even have an idea how long that trip actually was? Crap, why didn't I think of that BEFORE you went?

    1. I did suggest asking about length of Bespin trip, but my guess is only Lucas knows. :)

    2. Aww, sorry, I forgot you said that, oops my bad. But would be fun to hear her thoughts on whether they did it or not. :)

Oh and everyone should check out Blue Milk special today for a Han and Leia kiss fest! ;)

    3. No worries. I just thought it was funny. It would be interesting to hear her take on it given her answer to the wedding question.

Definitely a nice kiss fest on blue milk today!

    4. Hee hee. I was loving it. They've had some really nice posts with the carbonite strips. And I'm sure it's entirely sad of me, but man, even cartoon Han is pretty hot. :)

  21. Zyra, there she did some things from Wishful Drinking and her new book, like Elizabeth Taylor pushing her into a pool. It seemed like there were quite a few questions about her family, especially her mother. There was a point where she was talking about the period in a girl's life where you don't like your mother, and a couple of audience members protested that they had always had a good relationship with their mothers.

Oh and she also brought up Star Wars porn, and asked if anyone had seen it. The female Han Solo immediately yelled 'HELL YES!'.

I think I missed your question too, Amara...damn. I could have totally gotten away with that one.

Of course, if I was rich I would have gone to every single show.

    1. Haha, that is awesome about the Star Wars porn :) I figured she'd say a lot from her older material. Has anyone read her newer book, Shockaholic? It was funny, but not as good as Wishful Drinking and mostly sort of an unorganized back and forth between some random things from her life.

My brother still laughs about watching me and my mother fight ;)

I'm not rich at all and I would've gone to all of the shows. The same way I paid twice as much money for my ticket when I went to see Wishful Drinking the first time because I wanted a good seat. We should've talked about this sooner because I, and I'm sure a few others, would've donated to the cause of getting you to all of the shows to report back!

    2. No worries, Elivagar. I think my question was a little buried. My guess is she'd say nothing happened on the trip to Bespin cause Leia's braids were still a little too tight.
