Over 13,000 Hits For the Month!

When you first start posting stories or running a blog, you tend to get a little bit obsessed with the stats you see on how many people are reading what you're writing.  Then eventually you stop caring so much.  But sometimes it's still nice to check and see that you are hitting new highs.

When we started the blog, the first month we garnered under 1000 hits.  And we were actually posting pretty often, although if you check back, almost nobody was commenting.  We'd routinely write posts with zero comments.  Then the numbers slowly creeped up and a year later we broke 10,000.  Then we had a bit of a lull there when we weren't posting so much, but things have gotten better lately and for the month of May, thanks mostly to lots of posts discussing sex, we broke 13,000 after a previous high of a little over 11,000 in some prior months.

So, thanks for stopping by and keeping things fun and interesting.  We love the participation and we love when people do things like Amara taking it upon herself to make a challenge out of an old post :)  Also, this month we should break 200,000 hits all time which is very exciting!  Once again I encourage any lurkers to come out and start to participate in the conversation.  We're fun, I swear.

And in a way to help, can we all take a look at this disturbing bit of news?  And all this time we've been worried about Carrie...

**ETA: by comparison, Harrison gets caught doing "shocking" things like... attending his son's soccer game!  Oh, the shame!  http://www.justjared.com/2013/05/13/harrison-ford-calista-flockhart-liams-soccer-game/

Also, Star Wars weekend on Spike for us Americans!  They're about to go get Leia....

  1. Congratulations! I've enjoyed going to this site for just over a year now. It's the only place I've ever met people who like Han/Leia let alone H/L fanfic.

  2. It's wonderful to see this place getting the love it deserves, that's great news! :)

And wow...hadn't seen that about Mark. He looks a lot worse than I thought too. He needs to hit the gym pretty badly for episode 7. I suppose we can expect a lot of this kind of thing in the tabloids as the big three are thrown back into the spotlight again with the new movie coming up.

And on a side note, there's a link on the right side of that page about Mark which relates to some extremely bizarre casting rumours for episode 7....like the singer from the band Florence and the Machine having a "lead role", say what??

  3. Wow, I had no idea Mark had gotten so.....hefty. But is it weird that what I actually found the most disturbing about that article was how he threw his burger trash out the window?? Come on, Mark! Give a hoot, don't pollute! Didn't you pay attention to all those PS announcements in the 80s??

  4. Congrats, Push and Zyra! You finally inspired me to de-lurk after all my years of fandom. Thanks!

  5. Congrats, you guys! :D

I can't say I'm inclined to believe tabloid garbage. You think they could have come up with more incriminating photos if this is what they do all day. Shameful that he's tossing his cig out the window, but then again, I see people do that around here all the time. If any of the other stuff is actually true, then that's really too bad.

  6. Push actually pointed out this article to me, which is weird since I'm usually the one who finds the weird online crap. I said to her I wondered if his digging through the trash for cigarettes was a way to keep a promise to his wife that he wouldn't buy cigarettes anymore ;) I've witnessed that sort of thing in real life a small number of times, and each time the digger was someone who was very obviously homeless and in a terrible state of health. Really disturbing if true. Maybe it was his own and he left it there when he went inside? That's also pretty desperate, though.

    1. I've seen it before myself. I'm a smoker (sorry!), and the thought of lighting up an unknown cigarette butt is just nasty -- who knows if the person who smoked it was ill? And just the bacteria lying around from it, no thanks.

I'm quite sure Mr. Hammill can afford his own cigarettes.

  7. I mostly smoke on the front porch. I don't do it in my car, and at work, there's an area in a well concealed stairwell where faculty members go to light up. Don't smoke in my car. Won't do it around my granddaughter or husband. My daughter was a smoker but she and her fiance have given them up in hopes of quitting. (They're $15.00/pack in NYC.)

    1. Sadly, I smoke too. *And* I'm also a victim of the New York cigarette taxes. *offers stats a high five* Er....wait, nevermind. That wasn't boast worthy.

I too have a strict "only on the porch" rule (or outside a bar etc.). Never in the house. And never in the car. Am always trying to quit and failing miserably. But it's like I told my friend the other night: "Every time I buy a pack of cigarettes, I hate myself. But every time I try to quit, I hate my life." Which is an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Not smoking is tough!

That said, even in the midst of "trying-to-quit-and-desperate-for-cigarette" craving, I could never, ever fish through an ashtray for old butts.. Ew. Even just accidentally brushing up against one in the sand at the beach grosses me out to no end.

    2. I'm very glad I've never even TRIED a cigarette. It might even be partly due to the anti-smoking PSA that Artoo and Threepio did in the early 80s :)

    3. You're very glad you never tried it. My problem was that I tried it (at 13) and liked it immediately. I sort of wish I was a kid who'd barfed or choked on the first one. It really is very, very hard to quit; I tend to move into Jack Torrington territory whenever I've tried.

  8. Congrats! I too write a blog and know how one can get so obsessed over stats! Thankfully I have gotten over that whole phase, and now I don't care as much either, but it is still nice to see them jump every once and a while!

Poor Mark Hamill. And like many of you...I wasn't aware that he really needs a personal trainer too. I mean, they got Carrie one so it makes sense for him to have one too. But if he doesn't stop that it isn't going to do much I suppose.

Then again...I knew there was a reason Harrison was always my favorite.

  9. Awww, thanks for the shout out Zyra. Helps when I have a great post to use for plot bunnies. :)

And congrats on the hits! That's awesome. Guess we should talk about sex more, huh?

I am really hoping that is a fake article about Mark. Just so sad to even think about. And I don't think he looked that chunky at Celebration. Looks like Harrison is a bit more grounded.

What is up with Spike not showing Jedi over the 30th anniversary weekend? I was surprised and it made no sense to show the prequels instead. At least we get to watch it now.

    1. Oh my god, I noticed Spike does that all the time! They show the first two movies and then just stop and put something completely random on. I mean, I know ROTJ is the weakest of the first three, but still! A girl likes to have closure! It's like they work you all up into the story and then there's no finishing the deal. Like the nerd version of getting a pair of blue balls. Okay, I'm weird. But you know what I mean!

    2. No, no. We get it. You see Han go into carbonite and you want to see him get his kiss when he comes out! And just look at that Tatooine wind-swept hair. Anyway...

Come on, you need to pay better attention though. They always do all three. You just have to wait sometimes. ESB is on today and then ROTJ is on after. Sadly it's not on until 10 but it will be on!

    3. The nerd version of blue balls? LOL. Nice one. ROTJ will be on tonight, but won't end until 1:30 am. That's no good when I need to be at work in the morning. I'll have to pop the blu-ray in. It is also back on tomorrow at 8.

Most definitely I want to see that kiss in Jedi. Anyone else notice she looks like she's ready to crawl into his lap in that scene? Can you blame her? Seriously, I can't see that they held out for that long after that kiss. And certainly not much past Jedi if they made it that far.

    4. Oh, and still can't figure out how they didn't show Jedi on the anniversary of the movie. That's just messed up.

  10. Congrats on the milestone. I love this blog and check it every week. Those pics were pretty interesting. This is evil but I am actually amused by the Mark pics. Especially when paired with the HF pic at his son's soccer game. I don't know why but it seemed I had to be anti-Mark to be so pro-Harrison. Anyway...sorry Mark. You're rich and famous. Who cares what a Han Solo obsessed woman in her 30's thinks?
