May the Fourth Be With You!

For those of you who are unaware, today is Star Wars Day!  May the Force = May the Fourth, get it?  This "holiday" is a fairly recent phenomenon but over the last couple of years fans and even non fans have learned to truly embrace it.  I certainly had more than one facebook friend with May the Fourth pictures or references on their walls today.  I will say though that I was disappointed to learn that Spike will not be showing the movies this weekend.  Seems like the perfect time, right?  I guess we'll just have to wait for Memorial Day, or just not be so lazy and actually put our blu rays in.

So, wear your Star Wars shirts and think Star Wars-y thoughts.  If you don't have any shirts, go to Target right now because they have some new ones and I happen to be wearing one right now.

Also, thanks for all of the lively discussion over the last couple of days.  If you didn't notice, you bumped up that now-infamous post to #5 on the top 10 blog posts of all time after only a few short days.  It'll probably only be another day or two before it's #4, although then it is a rather large jump to get to #3, another substantial jump to #2 and that #1 post is #1 by a darn good amount so I don't know if that one will ever get dethroned, but we'll see.  We also broke the record for single day blog hits.  Go, team!

I know I still owe you the next chapter of the joint story, too.  I've had it mostly written for a while now, I just need to add some things, which I haven't done yet.  But you're having fun in the mean time anyway, right?

  1. I had no idea SW had its own holiday!

I had a Princess Leia Halloween costume for the longest time, but it became incredibly frayed and I probably couldn't fit into it anymore. Mr. Stats has his Han Solo duds and also his Darth Vader costume (we bought the mask but I sewed and decorated it). My granddaughter wants to be Princess Leia for Halloween so I expect that I will be getting out the needle and thread once the semester is over.

  2. Of course, in the greater Los Angeles area, Cinco de Mayo gets all the attention.

  3. Blu-rays?
    BLU-RAYS?
What is that sorcery? We have tapes. That means you have to drag out the tape player, figure out how to hook it up and then try and remember how the thing even works.
Darn. No marathon ruins everything. Guess that means I'll actually have to write today.

  4. May the Fourth be With You!

It's kind of funny how this has turned into a recognised holiday day. They even mentioned it on the tv and radio this morning.

This week has been heaps of fun guys, I've enjoyed that now infamous thread loads!

Sadly I don't have any SW plans for today, but I am of course dressed for the ocassion in a sw t-shirt. Those of you doing fun stuff today, have a good one! :)

  5. I'm thinking I need to do a holiday fic. What kind of holiday, I'm not sure. I'm sure intoxicants would be involved, but beyond that...

  6. And also with you!

Planning today to wear all my Star Wars t shirts, and I even convinced my husband that it was my special day (yesterday was my birthday) so that we could take off from other things today and watch the original trilogy.

Oh, and the awesome comment thread has lead me to some new and sexy unread fics to enjoy. So, that's what I'm grateful for this May the 4th.

  7. May the Fourth be with you, everyone! Got my t-shirt on and will be watching Empire soon.

I can't believe Spike is not showing the movies this weekend. What is up with that? Yeesh. And thanks to everyone for making it a fun post earlier this week. I'm curious though, how is the Empire Infinities number 4 on the list? Really? Huh, must be all those awesome scans I did. Or Han and Leia being total cute in that one. :)

  8. I've watched ANH, ESB and ROTJ today (and finished prepping my finals while watching). I hope it's okay that I don't want to watch PM, AOTC or ROTS. I'm watching my reasonably good sized collection of Harrison Ford flicks tonight. Mr. Stats is still in Yosemite so he does not get to choose.

  9. Woop, may the fourth be with you.

I watched ESB (through midnight) last night. I'm about to watch ANH right now. They're having a SW pub crawl tonight in my town, but I was too freaking tired to go.

Yes...still waiting on that update. ;)

  10. I started reading 'Legacy 2' of Dark Horse, and it wasn't bad. Also saw something on Facebook about how, today should be called "Revenge of the Fifth."

  11. I was, sadly, unable to celebrate Star Wars day in a fashion I would really have liked since I had a disappointing day at State Solo & Ensemble, but I still managed to make a Star Wars cover photo for Facebook and wish more than my share of people a happy Star Wars day...and I managed to get a new chapter for Promises out on time!

I guess, despite the fact that the day itself went terrible, Star Wars day was still a great day for me!!

May the Fourth be with you!

  12. If you don't mind a proud mama to boast a bit, my girls are featured in the May/June 2013 issue of The Star Wars Insider magazine (Bantha Tracks section, page 79)! My daughter and her friend founded The Lakehouse Forums for young girls to connect and express their love for Star Wars. two year ago and now they have been recognized for their hard work. It was a great May the Fourth.

    6. Thank you all for the well wishes, passed them along. They are an awesome group of girls and Ashley Eckstein is such a wonderful role model for them. It's really neat to watch the next generation of Star Wars fans, pass on what you have learned....
Crap, does that mean I'm really old like Obi-Wan now?

  13. I'm working on a holiday fic, one that does not involve trees, cookies or bad weather.
